Hey, I've decided I want to put dual exhaust in my mitsu...problem being, I only have the 4 cyl. and I can't find dual exhaust for it anywhere! It seems they only make it for the V6...anyone know of anyplace that makes dual exhaust for 4 cyl's? I know it probably seems rediculous but I cant afford $10,000 to upgrade to a 6, sadly! Any other idea's as to how to sup it up under the hood? Any help would be great!
Thanks!
Thanks!

you can always have a custom dual exhaust done, it may not be even flowing and doing so you will lose backpressure and power, the only advantage is that it does look good
Best thing: Intake, headers, exhaust, suspension, lightweight rims and tires
if u have money or want to go hardcore: supercharge or turbocharge...i'm pretty sure you can't do both though that might prove impossible

I do plan on getting cold air intake, that is getting installed within the next few weeks...I was looking into getting my car supercharged but of course I know it is really expensive! So that'll probably be one of the last things I do. Anyone know any good places that would make a custom dual exhaust?

any custom muffler shop will do it, but like i said, there is no point to it besides appearance and may run up to 400$
u'll also have to cut out a part of the other side of the bumper

I am also planning on getting a bodykit for it before I work on the exhaust, and the back bumper will have two slots for it...I understand it wont do anything for the car, there really isn't much you can do for a 2.4...but by the time I could afford a faster car I'll probably be 40 and into SUV's or something non-sporty looking lol

instead of buying a body kit and dual exhuast, which is useless, well not hte body kit, you could almost be halfway there to turbocharge or supercharge and you wouldnt have to buy a cold air intake or headers if you get a turbo, if you get a supercharger you will

How much would it cost to get a turbocharger or supercharger for my 2.4???

go turbo, forget supercharging. custom kit about $4000 installed...

09-19-2004, 06:20 PM
ya since you have the 4 cylinder, go turbo...better for you.....you can make your own turbo kit and you could do it for around 2,000....just buy a turbo, the manifold, pipes, bov, adn so on

and fuel management, injectors, intercool, and boost control ...turbos are a dime a dozen in smaller sizes, bigger sizes get more expensive
you would definitely have to get it tuned for the best results

gst and gsx are even at the quarter?? or after the quarter mile i forgot but hte gst does get quicker because the gsxs awd slows it down....ive heard this before.

GSX should be faSter due to traction....from a rolling start or the freeway, both are almost equal.

lol no I need to stick to a 2003 or newer if I want to trade mine in...I had my eyes on a really nice 2003 GTS, only 15,000 miles...on eBay, but the seller won't write me back =(

why would you need to stick to a 2003 or newer??
MitsuGrl2002

Well, I prefer the newer ones...I'd rather get a newer one, drive it for a while and upgrade again. I like the body style of the 3rd generations, they're sleek and modern =) I love the 2nd gen's as well but I like how the 3rds handle and...I just like them lol

dont pay the extra money that you are going to pay for the gts.....just turbo your 4 cylinder....that shit could end up killing stock gts'
MitsuGrl2002
09-23-2004, 04:54 PM
I would but I'd rather supercharge than turbo and I can't afford a supercharger

I'm looking into selling my car now, KBB says its worth 14,670 so if i look for a 2003 gts for 15,000 I wont have to pay much more, and I'm finding quite a lot of them for 15,000
MitsuGrl2002
09-23-2004, 04:55 PM
and definately with less mileage than mine currently! I'm at almost 40 grand and I'm finding a lot of gts's with like, 15 or 20 on them

the possibilities are endless once you go turbo. U control everything. Boost, air/fuel, BOV and pressure... its fun, plain and simple, and turbocharged cars can be made extrememly fast too for a relitively small amount of money... ESPECIALLY 2Gs with the 4G63, which is, by the way, today the most powerful production inline 4 banger ever made (source: BBC top gear, car= mitsu Evo).
Wanting a newer car for the sake of a newer car is fine, but you can make an older car practically new also.... there is nothing that cant be made to look or preform better on older cars.
If you just want a 3G, go for it...though every car under the sun can be modded to nuts, its all about the cost effectiveness ratio. And the 4G63 can be made very fast with minimal mods and minimal green....a manual boost controller @ 15psi, a boost gauge, a dump tube hack, BCS removal, K&N intake, and IC pipes with a 1G BOV or GReddy can cost as little as under $450, with everything else stock, you'll whallop the shit out of 90% of the cars on the road. I have exaclty the same mods as above, and my car is a rocket....people swear im running a 16G. Oh yeah, the you get into bigger turbos...then you are officially pimpin.

KBB lies to you, mine's worth something like 13k now and i have the car int he sig below, you have to check the trade value which most likely won't be much mor than 10k if you kept your car really clean

well I called the local dealership here and they gave me the selling price of 14,067 and told me it was from KBB, which I checked on and thats what I came up with there as well...I went to edmunds.com and they stated $13,094 so, as long as that seems to be where the market is around here, i'm going to try to get as much as I can for her so I won't have to fork out so much for the upgrade =)

the 4g64 is an SOHC.... do a galant GSX DOHC head swap and maybe u can run sizeable boost on your 4 banger... the galant gsx's were the 1990 VR4 AWDs...

Just look around at used car sites, if you find a GTS for 18,000 or so at a dealership site, you can talk them down to a lower price such as 15,000. I've done it a few times but haven't bought yet because now I'm wanting to turbo my car instead of get rid of it. Good site, carsdirect.com
