HLJ problem

Has anyone had this happen to them? I ordered 4 items from HLJ and they were all green spotted, which means they are available. When i checked my order in my account 2 of the items were stated as being back ordered. It was very annoying because when they are almost sold out they have a yellow spot and say 'short supply' or something. none of these had that. AARRGGHH!

Happend to me to, I found out that when you order a item and it's the last one it also comes out of stock or back orderd in your account.
So you really should be happy you got the last one

Yeah, SOP for HLJ. Their ordering system leaves a lot to be desired IMHO.

I did wonder if i got the last ones or something. I didn't want to risk it though so i cancelled the order. As i was paying with a credit card i thought maybe they would try and charge me later when they did have them and i had no money in my account. Maybe i should have waited a bit. It is strange though that it went from in stock straight to back ordered with nothing inbetween.

Don't cancel or freak out yet...if you do anything, tell them to ship what they have and cancel the rest.
Recently I had two orders w/items that were "code green dot" when ordered. The first order had two different kits and a few cans of paint. When the order showed up on my account page, it showed one kit as backordered. Grrr...so I cancelled it, and told them to send the rest. Well, the next day I get a shipping notice that everything I ordered indeed was shipped. Okaaaay....
This week I was perusing Fujimi's passenger cars and found that the Ferrari F355 was in stock! So that evening I ordered one, and a couple parts packs. The next morning the F355 had gone from in-stock to "discontinued" as it always shows up in a search. I waited for my account page to update, and when it updated, the F355 was listed as a blue square "future release". So I did nothing...and today I see that they have already shipped the F355 and the parts packs...so it was in stock, and I did get one.
This doesn't always happen, their online status should be easier to figure how many are really in stock when you hit the order button...but don't freak out! :)

HLJ are great to deal with. Yes, it is true that sometimes things go from in stock to backorder at the drop of a hat however I have never had a problem getting any of the multitude of kits that I have ordered over the last couple of years. I've had to wait a few weeks from time to time however it always ends up coming in eventually.
However if you are not comfortable with ordering online, then don't - go to a shop.

I just placed my first order with them, I got one of those Aoshima Nissan Cefiros with an engine. It had a green dot so I should be right.

The thing with HLJ is that they don't seem to hold an awful lot of items in stock and their "in stock" indicators are far from accurate. If you want an accurate stock list and quick delivery, a far better service is Rainbow 10. However the beauty of HLJ is that they are prepared to take orders for a wide range of backordered items. They can take a while to fill the order and ship, but you will get what you want in the vast majority of cases. You just have to be prepared to wait weeks or months. For those that are worried, HLJ will not charge your credit card until the order has shipped, unlike some less reputable online stores.

I don't beleive those stupid buggers. Now the 2 items that were backordered are now green and in stock again. Thinking too many swear words to write any more.

Like I said before, if you order the last items they become backorderd.
If you cancel your order, they come in stock again :screwy:

I didn't think HLJs stock system was real time, but if you’re correct and they are, then that is hilarious!

If they were the last ones, though, why was it in stock and not low stock?

I think they say low stock means they have more odrers for stuff than stock. So maybe you were the first to order the only ones on the shelf :dunno:

the reason you guys do not understand their system is because it is database driven. this means that the database looks at what you order, bounces it off what is in stock and then checks what HLJ has ordered to replace the items. so if you order an item and HLJ has not ordered more to replace what you ordered then the database will indicate that they are low or out of stock. so unless it indicates the item is out of stock, i would not worry. indicating low just means that their supply is close to what is in demand. this is supply and demand for ya. hope this helps and as was stated earlier just be patient and you'll get your stuff.

It is not just the fact it is a database but also because that database seems to take into account items that are on order by other customers as well. Far more complex (and therefore less useful in some ways) than other online setups I've seen.
Good post JDM Wagon. Just add some capitals in the requisite positions and it'd be perfect. ;)

Also, the ordering system is not a real-time system... That means, when you order an item, it surely checks it's supply state. But when the order is proceeded (by hand) later, there may be other customers that ordered your stuff beneath and it's gone out-of-stock. Couse at your ordering time the other customer's order was not yet reflected by the system. That's the reason why most online shops use a real-time system! It tracks all the stocking by itself, the online shop men will be informed when something is about to go out of stock and can reorder the item from their supplier. Plus, you don't need some people (like students or so ;-) ) to hack in the orders into the system...
