hi i am a bit of noob too motorcycles.

i want too know if you can "tune" your motorcycle. i want too buy a yamaha R1. what kind of mods can you do with this. i know there are long rear things, think they are called swingarms. does anybody has a website about hose swingarms? and a little wierd question(please dont laugh) are there turbos for motor cycles? if not, how can you ad more power too the rear, so you can burn if you give it the maximum power?

thanks in advance

Yes you can buy extended swingarms for R1s. Are you going to be doing a lot of drag racing? If not then I wouldnt bother. They do have turbos for bikes but typically you want to add turbos to low compression motors such as the Hayabusa and ZX12. Adding turbos to 600s and even most liter bikes is a waste and puts a lot of strain on all moving parts. Typically with any turbo your gonna be looking at a good 100+ horsepower gain and that is ALOT on a bike. Most turbo kits are designed from car turbos so expect the same horsepower output at least if not more. You can add nitrous as well if your into that stuff.

If you aren't sure about what a swing arm is and you said it yourself a noob to motorcycles, I don't think an R1 would be a good first bike. That thing from what I understand is like a Ferrari of motorcycles. I've heard it's good to start out on somthing in the 600cc size area.

Nothing wrong with an R1 for someone who has absolutely no experience with bikes. I think he should boost it, squeeze it, and bore it out. No need for an extended swingarm, when the front end comes up in 5th gear just keep accelerating. Dont be a pussy.

i dont know what the emoticon is for shaking your head, but im doing it right about now..

bkvj, dude dont listen to em, YES you CAN turbocharge and YES you can modify the engine of a bike just like you can a car, but dont be stupid, get at the most a 600, learn for a while, upgrade to whatever it is that takes your fancy, THEN see if you really want more power.... isnt 180mph enough anyway?

to all your f#&ers who mislead this fella; i wouldnt have said a word, until i realised his age..

i still chuckle when i think about a guy who once wrote to "fast fours and rotors" asking if he could put a quad cam head from a soarer on triple rotor! no sarcasm involved!

to civic: i know how much you love guys who don't answer questions and go straight to the "don't be an asshole" post, but i think your sarcasm was a little lost considering you answered the question in the first place.
do you really think a 15 yr old has a 94 beemer and understands sarcasm if he doesn't even know what a swingarm is?

AF has 'Car of the Week', this forum needs a 'Wanker of the Week'! (no don't i'd be up for it weekly)

hahahahahaa, hell yeah man, and there only around $16000!! but, i think the insurance on that would be a wee bit too high...

I want to get her hooked on a swift gti, n/a performance = cheap insurance.. still classed as a 'sports car' so that will take the insurance a little bit up...

I hear perth's got quite an import scene... you lucky bastards have got all the tracks and stuff as well!
no wonder all you guys kicked ass for the first round of the drift nats down here in melb!
