squeeky brakes

i have a 95 pathfinder and the brakes squeek once they r warmed up, put new calipers, rotors, and pads on did not seem to help. any solutions?

If all parts are new, the problem is usually a lack of lubricant. If you've never done it may sound a bit off key. Go to your auto parts supplier and purchase a packet of brake parts lube. Remove all parts and apply the grease liberally to all slides and the back of the pads where contact is made on the calipers. Contrary to what I always thought, the squeak is most off caused by vibration in these areas when brakes are applied. A sqeak when brakes are idle is most likely from the inner pad, as it always has some pressure on it. Good Luck!

i bought the car with the new brakes put on it and whe i looked there was no lube so thats what i thought and lubricated every thing but the squeek never went away. any other suggestions?

The only other thought is that inferior or poor quality parts were used. Also and I am stretching it sometimes after several hard stops the pad surface can prematurley harden. Almost creating a metal to metal contact. Like I said its a stretch and maybe some additional work to eyeball the parts. Check the rotors for any blueing, a tip for very hard stops. Try 4x4parts.com. i took it all apart and applied plenty of lubricant and it had stiopeed for acouple days but now it is back. only on the driver side though so i am thiking it could be a bad rotor maybe? i am not sure but it is frustrating.

You may have a poor dust seal {part of backing plate}, Nissan came out with a updated part to cure squealing .You must remove the rotors.If your backing plates are "one piece" you need the updated backing plates{available from Nissan only}

I think infinman is talking about the redesigned baffle plates. They came out with these for the 96+ vehicles but I'm not sure if there was a new version for your 95. Basically when you take the entire hub off there is a inner seal (dust seal) on the back of the hub that can make this noise. The redesigned baffle plates come with a dust seal attached so you remove the hub, replace the baffle plates with the new design, remove the inner seal from the back of the hub and reinstall. Or you can remove the hub and replace the inner seals with new OEM seals with a good amount of grease.

This was just brought up on the 4x4parts.com forum for a 98, just not sure if the 95s had the same redesigned baffle plates available.

so do you think if i grease that seal up or re[lace it would that work? and what would the name for the seal be?

The oops was I posted replied twice.The redesigned baffle plates {up here in Canada}were for 93 and up.Never the less all Paths have the same set-up.The seal is called hub dust seal.Most people miss this part of a brake service.The seal must be cleaned and the hub surface cleaned and re greased.Failure to do so may result in an ugly noise after warm-up.Question?Does your noise show up without applying brakes?

yes the noise does come about when not on the brakes

Sounds like you need to inspect/clean these seals

thank you very much for the info i cleaned and regreased the seals on saturday morning and have driven 150 miles around town and the noise has not came back at all so i think we may have solved it. thank you for your time and i will keep up and let you know if any thing happens.
