how much would you pay for a 1998 eclipse gst with only 38,000 miles and a spotless carfax report?
a friend of mine up in canada really wants a gst and he found one. well it's a 98, leather, abs, pretty much everything. matter of fact, if the interior were black, it'd be exactly like mine. anyway, the dealer wants $10,400 shipped to washington, where he'd go pick it up and drive into canada.
my question is, do you think that $10,400 is too much for a 98 gst with only 38,000 miles?

Thats a pretty good deal despite the fact that it has very low miles and has a good carfax record. I'd say go for it, Im sure you can sell it much more than that if you want. You dont find gst that clean with low miles alot, if you do its prob atleast 14-15. Theres a dealer near me that trying to sell a 99 gst with very low miles for like 18. Its been sitting there for like 2 yrs. lol

That sound like a very sweet deal, did you make a test drive or something? and real_madridcf (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/member.php?u=147237) said that car should be a lot more expensive if it is in good conditions, you have to be sure that the engine and tranny is in good conditions, Is it manual or auto?

hahaha those kind of dealers are so funny, I know about one that have an eagle talon 95 esi for like 8 month they were asking 4500 cash, lol

I think its a very, very good price...newer year with very low miles. that would cost around 12000+ here in california.

If he is planning to mod the shit out of the car, it defeats the purpose of having low mileage if he has any intention of selling it. Mods would destroy exactly what people want out of a low mileage car. The price is right....but unless he wants to drive it for 40k without modding it, I would say go for something a little higher mileage and less money. And awd ;).

^^^ i'm kind of thinking that too...about the awd. afterall, homeboy does live in canada.
i'd go check it out for him, but it's in dallas and i'm in austin. and well, we ain't that tight.
thanks for the responses so far. the jury's still out until i can get a few more responses though.
here's a few pics. all i saw on the body was a scrape under the front bumper and a few rock chips on it.

The car sure looks like it's in terrific shape--it looks brand new. In the end, it is your buddy's decision...just point out to him all of the potential drawbacks.

Sounds like a good deal...till it walks. Two 7 bolt engines in my 95 did one at 89,000 miles and another rebuilt one at around 3,000 miles.

I'd buy it for that price...i paid $14k for mine and it has a new paint job, 18" rims, $1k stereo system, full leather, $10k in mods to the engine, and only 39k miles when i bought it. It is well worth it but if yours is stock it wont be able to pass up a 5.0 mustang.

Good price, but joemathews is right, you could get a higher milage AWD for cheaper and it would still hold up as good.

At one point in time I saw a 99 GST in Ore, that that 38,XXX and they where wanting 10,995 for it. That is a hella good deal. I'd go for it unless you where realy admit about the AWD. But good luck finding and GSX for that price and with that many miles

dont be sure you could find a good condition GSX though. Ive been checking autotrader for a while for a GSX with low miles and still havent found one for less than 15k. There is a 91 3000gt vr4 with 59k miles for sale about 5 miles from my house that I could buy for that much, and it would be faster. I would actually prefer to have an eclipse though but it would be nice to have a twin turbo awd 3000gt.

Can I ask what mods you have totaling $10k?
