Engine bogging on down slopes

My car started bogging after I stop on a downhill or if I have to stop real fast. Like if I stop coming down a steep hill the car will bog almost like choking. I have to stomp the gas to get it to go, then it will suddenly kick in and take off. If I'm at a light or something and it starts bogging, I have to three pedal it so it won't stall, sometimes people think I want to race them, but I just don't want it to stall. When it does stall, half the time it will start right up. The only thing I could think it could be is somehow the fuel pump is getting clogged, . The car did sit for a while when I did the swap, but that was 8 months ago, I don't know why it would be doing this now. Any other ideas anyone?

Did you give it a tune up? I'd do that first. Maybe the fuel filter needs to be changed.

I already changed the fuel filter and it still did the same thing. Did tune up like 4 months ago. I also just remembered a few weeks ago I ran the gas tank real low before I refilled it, and when I removed the gas cap there was some mud colored stuff around the rubber, could that be rust in the tank? Would I have to replace the tank?

sounds like a fuel problem, maybe just crappy gas or possibly some water is in your gas tank. Could also be a dying fuel pump, but first i'd check to see how good the gas in the tank is.

I dont think the gas tank would rust from the inside anyways.

What are the symptoms of a fuel pump goin' bad? The car does have over 260,000 miles on it. I put 50k on it myself before the swap. Could the new motor be too much for an old pump? I have no idea last time it was replaced. The reason I thought it was crap in the tank is cause when the car is nose down the gas gauge goes up, doesn't that mean that the gas is leaning toward the floater/pump assy?

that could be - it could be that the pump is gettin tired an when your on a down slope the pump has most of the gas submerging it an if the pump is tired its not properly extracting the fuel that is there - my friend had that problem in his talon, the pump was on its way out an when he was a slope the pump was being offered an overwelming amount of fuel an the pump couldnt process it so it would sputter which would cause the flow of fuel to deminish... so ya it sounds like your pump is almost dead... park your car on a good hill with the front facing down hill.... then disconnect the fuel line from the throttle body an have someone turn the key while you monitor the line an see if fuel shoots outa. if it doesnt then your pump is bad.. but the pump could also be bad if that doesn't happen... do that first an then drop your tank an take the pump let it sit out... an dry then take a battery with some good length wires make sure there is no cuts in the wire coving... an have a little can of gas with a hose goin to the pump an activate the pump an see how well its workin it should jet out fuel at a good rate ......

What if I got one of those fuel pressure gauges that screw into the fuel filter and monitored the fuel that way. Think I'll go pick one up
