Pulley Swap Problems

Any one else experienced this? Was swapping my stock press-on SC pulley yesterday using my Pulley Boys puller. Pulley popped and came off ok, but the 8mm stud sheared off in the SC shaft and the pulley tool. Took me an hour to get the broken pieces out of each using a a dremel to create a friction point that would take a small screwdriver. Was surprised how little it took to break that stud.

On a happier note, new pulley went on with no problems.

Didn't have any trouble with mine. I installed a 3.4" from Thrasher. Poped right off. The fun part was the air box. The information they send is really messed up. Oh wait, that was me.

I have done about 6 swaps with mine and still using the same bolts and stud,but I do have an extra set just incase....did you use lots of Anti-sieze,I goop the crap out of them...ive read where others have had that problem and most think its because there was not enough Anti-sieze on it and the heat has something to do with it on the small M-8 stud.Just a thought!

I slathered everything with anti-seize. Maybe I had a defective stud. At least I was able to get the broken pieces out.

It is actually pretty common to break them. Your putting alot of pressure on that little thing. At least you didnt strip your snout like I did turning it the wrong way.

I guess things turned out ok considering. One last thing. Since I swapped the pulley I'm now noticing a constant chirp from the SC belt. I had installed a new gatorback (4060660) before the pulley swap (about a month ago). Would using the belt with the stock pulley ruin it for the 3.4? Should I replace it again? Thoughts?

Or should I go with a larger tensioner pulley?
