Little race before school (Kill)

So I'm pickin up a few buddies before school, and I see this red EX drive by, cf hood with the biggest gayest scoop I've ever seen, tinted windows, massive fart can, and music just bangin at like 6:30 in the morning. So one of my buddies says take that fool out, its an auto, has NO engine work done to it (he obviously knew the guy from school). I pull up next to him and he mashes the pedal (you can hear his exhaust screaming), yet he doesn't go anywhere. We started laughin, but we hear him honk 3 times, so I'm like wutever. I pour on the gas and he does, but I put 2-3 cars on him pretty quick.
We are about a mile from school and he flies by at like 70-80 in a 35, and flips us off, then gets tagged by Vancouver's finest...hah
I'll post what he does when I get out of school.

Well, I believed it was a 93 LS until yesterday, but like 5-6 people say its a GSR. Not sure, bought it used from some guy who said he never drove it. It has like 30,000 miles on it. Friends borrowed it and said dynoed, they dynoed it because I beat an Eclipse GST the other day, and they said there was no way it could be an LS. There aren't any badges on it, so I don't know. They said the dyno showed it at like 162 HP, thats a bit higher than an LS from my understanding. I haven't done anything to it yet, but I get paid today...maybe a little catback exhaust this weekend will tweak it. :evillol:
I'm actually not totally sure what it is, but I will post some engine shots and outside pics, this is my first car, but I have driven cars for nearly 2 1/2 - 3 years, so I have a knowledge of driving.

Well what does it redline at? I believe GSR's redline at like 7800 rpm, while LS redlines at 7000 rpm, or something. I'm not that sharp on Hondas.
Isn't this the 2nd race that you've gotten someone pulled over? Some people out there REALLY don't like you... I dont want your smile to look like this: :icon16:

Redlines ay 7500, just went outside and checked.
Ya, actually 3rd time, but it is their fault. They think they're the shit, then they get slammed, I'm a calm racer.
Kid with the Civic : his dad died like 2 weeks ago, turns out he got some social security for it, blew it on exterior mods for the Civic. Feel kind bad now.

whoa.... well... if my dad died, i wouldn't be using the money on mods on a civic.... i'd be helping out with other family things or pay my rent or something.... that money isn't meant for use on a car... i told my dad that and he went "unless you use that money to buy a shelby gt 500, i'll haunt you if you spend it on a car, that money is to help you get out of debt and get a good life."

man what an idiot, i wouldnt feel bad for him. His father dies, he gets some money to help him with his life and he blows it on exterior mods for his car. . .a civic!!! His dad is prolly rolling in his grave right now. WHat a way to disgrace your father, to show him that out of his death you got exterior mods for your car, that is really sick. If my father died and i was left with money, that money would go to school, food, maybe a house or apartment. Not wasted on exterior mods for a civic. . . that kid deserves what he got, maybe his dad played a hand in him getting pulled over. . .

Yea that's a GSR. Nice ride, get some power in it. Kid's a douche, he probly had it coming.

i'm surprised that you didn't notice any power increase when you hit 5500-6000rpm. on a GSR. the v-tec engaugment is very loud. also when you pop open the hood i should have BIG BOLD LETTERS THAT SAYS "DOHC V-TEC" on the valve cover. those are dead giveaways of a GS-R to a LS. i'm surprised you couldn't hear the v-tec.

Well, I did notice increases near 5000 RPMs, but it is my daily driver, so I only put it there once or twice, against the Supra it was useless..but NOWHERE does it say DOHC VTEC on it. I'm trying to get ahold of a camera so you guys can check this out....weirdest things on this car...got it for cheap, with good mileage, and no engine problems so I was like shit!
Anyway, kid actually got around $50,000 from my understanding, bought the civic for $6,000, and did exterior mods for about $2,000...along with some racing seats.
Said he wanted to go again when he drops an H22 in it, and he got a $340 ticket haha.

I hope to never get a ticket in your area.....around here they are like 100-200.
Also im pretty sure you can find out what your car is through the vin #. But w/o V-tech on the engine, it is probally a LS, not a GSR or Type R

Haha! GSR it is. Old man came home from work, said he had just got done detailing an Integra, and showed me where the markings were. They weren't on the top in white like how most GSRs are, but it was in black paint on the side; guess someone just put it on there, or swapped it out and put in a GSR block...He says it's probably a GSR, and is checkin out some stats on the net right now.

4 lug or 5 lug wheels? somewhere i heard that the gs-r / type r axles are 5 lugs
TatII

all GS-R's have 4 lug bolt pattern. only type R's and 5th gen preludes or accord EX's use a 5 lug bolt pattern. also there are 2 types of GS-R wheels. for the 95-96 they what they call the "Fat 5's" its a thick spoke rim. nothing like the SE ( special edition ) wheels with the thin 5 spokes. then at 97-00 they have the "blades" which look like blades. those were the much better looking rims.
on the side note. i've seen some GS-R's on sale on ebay with civic engines in it. its usually from guys who swap out the GS-R engine into a civic and doesnt' want the GS-R to be just a shell. so they put the civic engine in there so the GS-R can atleast be drivable. your car could be a GS-R with a LS motor.
there are also another way to tell from the valve covers. there are 2 types of valve covers for the LS. the eariler ones are the ones that is not smooth. it has large square bumps on the valve cover where the cam lobs would be. and newer LS valve covers would be smooth like a V-tec valve cover. but it would have lines goin across it from left to right at the edges of the cover. the DOHC V-TEC valve covers would say DOHC V-TEC on it and with have screw holes on by the plug wires. those screw holes are to hold a silver cover that covers the plug wires. sometimes they are missing. if you have the whole cover, then its definitly a V-TEC. if theres nothing but you see the screw holes. then its still a V-TEC. the LS's valve covers do not include that.

WHAT $50,000? I'd buy a corvette or used nsx and mod that (or use tthe rest to pay insurance :icon16: )

Turns out this is the scenario. I got shafted; took it down to a shop my friend goes to, some of you may have heard of HorsepowerFreaks, told me this was the case, and I got fuxxored. Thank god it was cheap. I think I'm gonna do something unique with my car now: B20 block with a Type R head. Sound good? Gonna take some cash and time.

doh. well if thats the case you better not rev that engine past 7. the stock redline is at 6.75 but you can stretch it out to 7K before you hit the true rev limiter. you might've notice this.

Haven't noticed it yet. It sounds like a VTEC is kickin in at like 6000 though, so I've pushed it to 7000 before. Not a good idea though?
TatII
09-20-2004, 11:38 AM
considering that you rev a GSR up to 8K and that the LS can only rev to 7 K. goin over by 1K is generally not a good idea. since you have a LS engine in there, i would assume that you have a LS ECU in there as well. there should be no reason why it would let you rev past 7K. however they could also hack into the GS-R ECU and kept the GS-R ECU so it can rev to 8. however i would highly doubt anyone would put that much time into doin that if the car was goin to be just a driveble engine donor.

It redlines at 7500, but have never really put it that far up there. Had it at like 7200, and yes, it allowed me to past 7000...dunno. I'm going to get it looked at by a few more shops to see what they think, I'll let you know this weekend what is really goin on with this car.
