Anyone know if any of the exhaust systems for 93-97 LT1's would fit in a third gen 89 Z28 that has an LT1 swap in it...? Or does anybody know of any that would? Im interested in the $8 billion Borla exhaust but I don't want to spend almost a grand and find out it wont fit haha, thanks.
Any other suggestions or anyone know where to find perf. parts that would fit this?

thats a tough one, dont really know for sure. i would assume that it would fit cause how many different ways are there to mount an exhaust under a camaro. maybe one of these third gen guys can help you out...

their chambered exhaust system :) i know it fits third gens, and even if the coupling from the catback pipe to the exhaust manifolds are a little different, any muffler shop should be able to modify it to work.

ive never bought an exhaust "system" before.. all ive ever bought was a muffler, then I get the muffler shop to bend any piping that I need.. like y-pipes or anything.. Get your engine in, and bring it to a exhaust or performance exhaust shop and they'l make you a new y-pipe that will work with the stock pipe and over axle pipe in your 89' maro.. then stick a muffler at the back with some 3.5" magnaflow chrome tips and your set

The LT1 is in it already, im just putting the new tranny in. I have a T56 on hold right now cant wait. So i just get like a 40 series muffler and bring it in with the car and be like "hey put this on with new piping." and they would? haha im jw, and how much would it cost about?

a good muffler shop should have no problem with that. a bad one will tell you that its not possible...

So i could just walk in with a Flowmaster 40 series (cuz of loudest growl and so on) and tell em to put it on with whatever diameter tubing i want, or whatever the muffler inlet/outlet is? What about the headers or manifold and all? And would it be crazy spendy? cuz i could bend pipes in my metals class and weld and everything...any suggestions?

well if you can do that stuff for free than do it in class. ofcourse, thats only if you have a mandrel bender. you could always get the pipe bent, and then take it to your class and weld it yourself. depends on how much effort you want to put in. dont wanna do work? take it to muffler shop. wanna do lots of work? get pipe bent, weld yourself.

I would actually prefer doing the work myself, plus it would be a guarenteed A in the class for the T56 crossmember I need to make, and then for the exhaust. Im planning on doing one for my truck soon (kinda my guini-pig vehicle) :grinno: this is the LINK (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=287760) for that if your interested or have any suggestions. I don't think we have a mandrel bender at the shop, but what if I bended them like curvy, so it wouldn't crunch up as much, or would that still not be good? I know I can weld well, it's only the bending im questioning.
Would the rear end of the Borla system, not the cat back, but the section after the Y pipe I think or something with the plates and such fit with minor modifications maybe? Or should I just get the tubing and muffs. and make my own even if its just curved bends? True dual with X pipe? Single to dual tips? What diameter piping? 40 series? What would be best in your preference? I would actually prefer doing the work myself as much as I can without looking up when im done and seeing an exhaust pipe sticking through the windshield or something...haha cuz I could see myself doing that...
Sorry for all these boring questions, it's just that this car and my truck are all I have and I was thinking this forum would be able to help meh out...even though all I have are repetitive questions. My apologies for being the naggy housewife of the forum. :loser: lol thanks for the help.

wtf? haha. I can't tell if you meant that literally or are making fun of meh. I just have lots of questions, and Im not that bad with cars and stuff...I just did a compression test myself on my truck last night, and rebuilt the thing basically myself 2 months ago. It's only specific fittings and stuff like that about a car I don't even have yet im mostly asking about. I am shipping that Camaro up to me in about a month (already baught it) and I just want to know all I can and what to do with it once it's here. It's all geeewwd though.

lol DAMN RIGHT! I have some answers to it, but my last post on the first page is pretty much all im wondering now...wich is a lot haha. I posted on a few different forums on this site and it is true that the Camaro guys are generally nicer and help. They even have a sense of humor, which I havn't really seen anywhere else haha. Don't mean to bash, but this place is great.

The answers to pretty much all of your questions is:
anything is possible with $$ and a pipe bender..
But IMO stick with a 2 1/2" or 3" Y pipe off the manifolds, and a Single 3" pipe all the way back, You could get the Y-section of the Borla adjustable catback on the end of it too.. itl be pricey, I would stick to just a muffler.. A Borla or Magnaflow Stainless steel muffler with a singe 3" inlet and dual outlets..

Yeah I was leaning toward 3" piping. So your saying a 3" Y pipe from manifolds to single 3" pipe to a Borla muff. then dual from there right? Where could I find Borla muffs (i've only found their headers and cat-backs) and are there like different series like Flowmaster and such? The only reason I was wondering about the Borla cat-back was for the adjustable sound levels and stuff, but I could just get an electric cut-out. About how far back should I have the muffler? I heard at least 6" of tailpipe is the minimum, and 10" being maximum without a resonator or something. Thanks for the suggestion and i'll look into that.
