i have a 85 fiero 2.8 V6 in Europe, the car ran great last week, then one day i was driving up a hill, and the car started to bog and died, i thought i was out of gas cause it was low, i filled it up, but it still wouldnt start, i checked and there was no spark from the coil, i took it to a YUGO mechanic lol, and i could see right away that he doesnt know what hes doing, i just need the car to start so i can store it away, i dont have any parts for it here, but the parts from a OPEL (GM) are sorta similar. i checked the 4 wires to the coil and one wire has power and another ground, i dont know what the other two are for, does anyone know?????? is there a diagram somehwere on the net????? i like to find out what each wires if for before the yugo mechanic mess' up my car even worse. is it common for the regulator inside the distributor cap to fail?????

One pink wire is a 12v supply wire, the other pink wire and the brown wire go to the distributor trigger, and the white wire is the signal wire for the tachometer. I would guess you have a bad coil, it's the most common. Bad distributor pickups will usually cause a lot of misfires rather then quit altogether.

is there any way to use another type of coil? can i use a cylinder type coil like chrysler uses for the old caravans? it only take two wires, i just need it to start up and store it in the garage, pushing it in the garage is not a options, i can barly drive it in. if i were to use another coil, whats the best way to hook it up, im guessing the 12 volt wire and one of the trigger wires?

I've replaced the control module inside my distributor about 5 or 6 times....of course that's on 3 different fieros.....but it seems to be a common part to go bad. I've never had a coil go bad yet...knock on wood....Around here you can just take the part to the nearest auto parts store and they will test them for free, hopefully it's the same across the pond. If not, they are relatively inexpensive and if it proves not to be the problem....it's always good to have a spare one.

i have so many spare fiero parts at home (canada) but i here for 5 more days, so there is no time to send one here, is there a way to test and see what part is bad by myslef,

Every time I have had a GM car die for no good reason at all, its been the distributor module. They last a long time, but when they go, there's absolutely no warning.
There is no way to jury rig this component. I think it's time for a tow/push until you can get parts.

today i found a spare coil, i must have brought one here and didn't even know about it, i hooked it up and still no spark, im guessing it has to be distributor module, just one thing, what is that cylinder part that has one wire going in and one wire comming out, it has something to do with the distributor cause one of the wires from the module goes to it, its about a 1 1/2 long and 1/2 wide, could that cause it not to start?

I think you are referring to the pick-up coil....different than the ignition coil. This part senses the location of the distributor and tells the control module when it's time to fire. It's possible that could be bad, and it's not very easy to replace, as it requires that you remove the distributor. My money is still on the control module!

I've never had a GM distributor module die outright, mine usually misfire like crazy when it's humid out. I've seen a few GM coils die suddenly, though. Guess it's just one of those things that varies...
The cylinder like thing isn't there on my Fiero, so I'm going to guess it's a capacitor - all they do is absorb stray voltage to prevent radio wave interference. You don't see a lot of them on US cars, but I've seen them quite often on European imports. If that's what you've got, there'll usually be one on the radiator fan motor, HVAC blower motor and windshield wiper motor as well.
If it is a capacitor, it's not the source of your problem. You're probably looking at a dizzy module, but in rare cases it could be the ECM. Check your fuses, too.
