Hey everyone, new to the forums and after doing some reading I think I'll be sticking around for awhile.
Anyway, I have a 94 Continental(Executive) with all of the terminal suspension problems. After getting some work done by a friend I have the car is ready to sell.
After all the work I put into the suspension, theres just one main factor that's keeping buyers from tolerating and esentially buying this car. The ride control light and the check dcl light come on and when they do they're both followed by an alarm. Keep in mind this is every three minutes. My friend that works for Lincoln Mercury that did the suspension work suspects I have a bad dash cluster. I asked if the alarms can be disabled but was told that taking that course would disable elements of the dash.
I was told it couldn't be done. If anyone has any suggestions in disconnecting the dash alarms I'd greatly appreciate it. I've been trying to sell this car for awhile. I've kept this car in impecable shape and would like to sell it.
Thanks in advance!

Well you are making a good move by selling the car I have a 93 I have replace the airbags as well
after you change the air bags the computer will need to reset your friend that work at the lincoln dealership did he fix the air ride problem . do you know if the air ride light has ever came off after he fixed the problem. It sound like he might have pump the air bags up by by- passing the compressor the car does sit up good now right ?
if he has done this the car will reset it will take a while I have done my car the exact same way by passing the compressor it took about a month before my light came off now the air ride works good as new
do you know if the air ride is working ?
a good way to check this is either when you start the car you will hear the compressor come on are when you turn off the car you will see the car come down .
if you want to take out the alarm there is a big plug under the dash all you need to do is un plug this and there will be no more alarm but keep in mined that when you unplug this you will have no sound comming from the dash at alll it takes out everthing .
the warning lights will STILL be on !!!!I dont know how to take those out
PLEASE get back to me and let me know how its going I will be happy to help in any way I can

What kind of work did your friend at the dealership do? Depending on what was wrong light could mean a few different things. Also if you are just interested in getting rid of the light and chimes and don't care about the automatic leveling features you can just turn the switch off in the trunk and cut the wire behind the module. Just post back if you need more help.

hey guys, sorry for the late reply. The person that did the work at the dealer ship replaced the compressor which at first helped the problem, somewhat. I got into my car one day and I didn't hear the compressor working at all. So he replaced it and I was back at square one. The car at various almost random times would sit low in the back or vise versa in the front. I drove it for awhile and it seemingly straightened itself out after I turned the switch off in the back. The car will sit really low maybe once every few weeks. When it does this I start the car up, flip the switch and let it pump up for about ten minutes.
I don't have it totally fixed and I was told by everyone to drop this thing quick. When driving the car it feels as though it de-stabilizes itself. Meaning it feels at times like your "hovering" to the right. The ride doesn't feel stable. But still safe though.
Hey Stinkinlincoln and Mathew 14, you guys mentioned how to disconnect the audible alarms on my car. Could you elaborate on this a bit.
Thanks a bunch!

A bit of an update on my 94 Continental. I have radiator fluid spraying up from under the distributor and in the vecinity of the water pump. Looked to see if it was maybe a loose hose clamp or a broken hose and didn't see anything.
I'm praying it's not a blown head.

well it sounds like you might be a little late on selling the car as for the coolant coming out I have no clue on what it could be have you made sure all your bolts not looseon the thermostat do you see any smoke when you start the car ?
I belive tht is ou have blown a head I think they smoke just to let you know the 3.8l engines are REALLY BAD FOR BLOWNING HEADS !!! if it is not the air bags then it is the engines
Back to the first problem to elaborate on the alarm its is all what you want to do do you want to unplug the noise are do you want to get rid of everthing light ,sound
are just the sound if you want to get rid of the sounds all you need to do it unplug the bell under the dash easy fix but the light is still there
You could also do what Mathew 14 sayednow if I was buying a car and new lincolns which I do the first thing that I would find out is the air ride dont work then I would see that the wire was cut there for Iwould NOT buy that car now dont get me wrong this is a quick fix and it well work but I would not do it
but it is your car
get back to us as soon as you can

STINKINLINCOLN is exactly right. It is all up to you. If the only thing that bothers you is the noise the most practicle solution would be to unplug the dash plug underneath of the dash. However, if the light bothers you as well, then there are only two options. Cut the wire from the module(which takes care of the light and the chimes), or unplug the dash plug and use some black tape to cover the light. Not pretty but I know it's been done before. To be perfectly honest if it was my car, I would first check to see if the bags will hold air. If they did then I would turn the system off in the trunk and cut the wire. If the bags don't leak the car will stay up and you eliminate problems with your compressor, relays, height sensors, ect. ect. ect. As far as selling these vehicles, the word is out there that they have suspension problems so trying to pull a fast one on someone with these cars gets harder every day. Another option you might want to give some consideration to is to convert the car to coil over struts. Let me know if I can help you with anything. Good Luck with some tough decisions ahead.

I can fix your problems and you will also be able to have your chimes working correctly. I have fixed many of these and the fix is permanent. All warning lights will also work correctly. Email for more details [email protected]
