So i was driving along on the express way and my rpms droped to 1,000 for no reasion. I diddent hit the clutch i diddent let off the gas. So i went to the shoulder turned it off and tried to turn it back on but it wouldent crank over. So i took it out of gear and it started right up and it worked fine, i got all the way home with no more problems.
It has been kind of jerking back (like some one is taping the break really hard) for the last 2 days but it would only do it a few times then it wouldent happen again for the rest of the trip. This also happened on the express way.
So im wondering if any one knows what the heck is going on? Is it falling out of gear or some thing? It seems to only happen on the express way.

If its when you press on the gas and its jerking like its losing power really fast then back then losing it. It could actually be your spark plugs or wires are really really bad and you need to change em check those .

I just put new plugs and wires in 4k miles ago. But they are pretty carboned all ready. My motor is running on the border of rich on the express way, not exactly sure why.
I was reading in my chilton book about this and they said one of the causes of "surging" is a bad egr. Now i did block off my egr, could this be it?
Also when my rpms droped a few lights on my dash did turn on like my E-Break light.

Sounds electrical. Dyning alternators can cause funky dash lights and odd engine behavior. Same with dying ECU. Might want to start by getting the battery tested, then the altornator. Might not be a big deal, alternators are easy to replace :)

The weird part is when my rpms droped like that my car just glided, I figued that if it was some thing with the motor or eletrical then my car would of stoped pretty hard. But it glided like i pushed the clutch in.
The ecu doesent have the ability to take it out of gear or any thing like that does it?

No way.
I've had the motor die and the car seems like it would coast for miles. There will be some compression braking, but since you have the throttle open there isnt much. ;) I've also had similar symptoms with dying CAS or loose CAS connection. But that wouldnt explain the dash lights, unless they were just on because the motor had basically stalled and restarted. Hard to say, have to try some things and start eliminating possibilities.

O yeah good point, the engine does crank over with reltive ease and that makes sence with the dash lights, all the ones that turned on come on when the car comes on. Well i checked my alternator a few weeks ago when i finished rebuilding my engine, it checked out fine, my battery is pretty crappy. I guess i will check all my eletrical connections and i will change my spark plugs and see how that works.
The alternator is drive on a undrive crank pulley, but it did show a good charge on the meter even with the underdrive pulley.
