problem at startup

1999 grand prix gtp, 94k,
My gp seem to be running just fine after startup, but while starting up today it has been making a clunking noise. the car shake a little bit with every clunk (2-3 usualy) and after starting it up a few times in a row i could faintly smell something burning. Taking it to a mechanic tomorrow hopefully, any suggestions in the mean time?
