1993 Camry not starting

I pulled my car into it's parking spot and there it stays!! It wont start for anything. I replaced the plugs still no start. I can smell gas coming from the tailpipe. How can i check for spark without getting shocked?

Remove a plug wire and stick a screwdriver in the end. Lay the screwdriver by a bracket and crank the engine.

Well I wasn't getting spark so we changed the distributor and the rotor but still no spark. We then took the ignition coil out and ohm checked it. The readings were 4.6k which was really low. So we took it to Autozone to compare it to a good one and found that the reading was supposed to be between 10 and 14k ohms. It was $60.00 for the coil. We then applied the new coil to the car and she stated right up! I was so tired of trying to figure it out but thanks to some help I was able to troubleshoot back to the coil. My car gets to and from the Marine Corps base where I am stationed and protecting this country the best I can!!Thanks for all the help Brian.
