Keyless Remote Programming Instructions

Hi All,
This is a great forum. Had to sign up.
Here's my problem..I just bought a Keyless remote control for a 1997 Nissan Maxima and it did not come with programming instuctions.
If anyone outhere have these instructions, I would appreciate it.

get in the car and Close and lock all doors behind you.
Insert and remove the key from the ignition more than six times within 10 seconds . (The hazard warning lamp will then flash twice.) leaving it in the last time
At this time, the original ID codes are eliminated.
now, Turn the key to "ACC" position(so your radio works).
Push lock button on the new remote controller once
At this time, the new ID code is entered. (The hazard warning lamp will then flash twice.)

that should be it.

I want to thank you for your instructions on how to program a 1997 Maxima Keyless Remote unit. I have a 1999 Maxima GXE and I purchased a remote unit on eBay, but the seller didn't have any programming instructions. I found this site and found your reply to the programming question. I printed it out and tried with my new used remote and it worked great. I had to follow your instructions a few times before I got it working and it works now. Thanks a lot for your help even though it was to someone else. I also have an old unit that stopped working (which is why I bought the new used one) and I'm going to put a new battery in that and try programming that one. I have one question. Is the ID code from the vehicle or from the remote unit?
