Performance/Comp. Ratio on TBI350?

I have a '93 C1500 with a 5.7L, I am rebuilding a '95 motor but don't know how much is too much. I imagine a computer controlled vehicle probably wouldn't like 10:1 but would 9.5:1 or 9.7:1 work or am I stuck with the factory 8.5:1? Has anyone used the any of the Edelbrock TBI Performer parts (intake or cam) and were they worth the money? Any other Tips for TBI Hp/Tq gains would be appreciated, thanks.
