I have a 2001 silverado with the 5.3L, and when I get going over 70 mph on the freeway, I notice a considerable amount of shaking. I hope this is not normal, and that someone could PLEASE let me know what my options are. Thanks

Do you hear a loud "clonck" noise when you shift into reverse and accelerate? Also get under the bed and see if the driveshaft isnīt loose, grease it up if needed (oh sorry, forgot they joints are sealed now) if the universal joints are worn out, replace them with one you can refill with grease, they last longer.

The "clonck" isn't incredibly loud when I shift, but I do notice it. I don't know much at all about cars, so what should I be on the look out if I take this into a shop? Thanks for your help

Start with the obvious. Are your tires balanced and in good shape? If all is good with the wheels and tires, then move in to the rest of the drivetrain.

if your u joints arem the factory sealed joint have them replaced with greasable joints. Mine failed major at 45,000 miles ...JJ

Probably the U-joints....mine failed(seized) with no looseness/clunking sound at all. A squeak as you slowly pull away and vibration at high speed under power. Make sure you heat them up before pressing them out....... loosens the injected plastic retainers so they come out easy.

Mine went out at a little over 50,000. What surprised me is they were Spicers! I thought those were supposed to be really good!
Anyways, I never heated mine, and they came out fine. You just hafta be careful with those aluminum driveshafts.

I seriously doubt that you have U-joint problems already.
My guess is one of your tires is out of balance, possibly threw
a weight, or never got balanced!
Take it back to your dealer and complain.
