Done for the year...

More car troubles guys. I'm done for this year. Heres a post from the local forum, I made a page on my site with all the pictures and details.
Same thing as last time. Cylinders 1-3 are hosed, while cylinder 4 is fine. Compression is 0-50-0-200. Plugs 1 and 3 are missing side electrodes and insulator. I'm willing to bet the HG blew as well and thats why the water pipe blew out (the bolt was missing of course). Looking at the log, the last half of 4th sucked. Mph certainly suffered, and it explains why there was no gain between 27 and 29 psi. I put together some graphs of WBO2 vs target AFR, that show that the pump was not keeping up with demands. I ran through the numbers in another thread and its right on the limit. All rough math, but its nice to see it add right up and support what's been measured. Here is a page with all the charts and info. No knock other than the usual after the NLTS.

Time to take a vacation. A long one. Next season I'll have a stronger setup and a more robust fuel system. ;)

Aw, as much crap that breaks on your car, you sure do have a damn good attitude about it! Well you still ran an 11.3 even with those problems, so that's saying quite a lot! Of course, with a turbo that flows 75 lbs/min, one would have to expect almost everything to break :p . Anyways, good luck next season, and have fun on that well deserved break from the DSM

wow. good luck. youve got some balls to be talking as calmly as you are about what happened...my life usually starts to fall apart for things like a slightly due oil change on my DSM!

that sucks, i hope you have more luck next season, anyways you were running 11 thats excelent, and how guitarXgeek (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/member.php?u=174212) said "with a turbo that flows 75 lbs/min, one would have to expect almost everything to break :p". someone said once "if it's easy is not funny ;)
Good luck.

Thanks guys :) Its not easy to stay cool about it. At one point on the ride home I started to get pissed. But thats what this sport involves. Lots of successes, and even more dissapointments. I am extremely tempted to pull the motor apart tomorrow and see what it needs. But financially, I really need a break. Time to pay some bills so maybe I can actually enjoy the car next year without thinking about the cost as much.
I need a roll cage for running faster than 11.99/11.49 (NHRA/IHRA), large inline pump, move my BOV to the UICP, etc, so I have plenty of work to do. And I need to degree my cams in a bad way, much easier with the motor out anyway! LMAO... Oh well...

Yeah, I want to see some pictures of your car. All I've seen is dated, with no CF hood, the ricer symbols.. and no engine bay shots with the new turbo.

Just read a thread on DSMlink forums(not sure if non-members can read it, http://www.dsmlink.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=2664)
Guy put down 551 whp and 501 tq on a stock 2g 7 bolt bottom end. Sick. But more important he did it with the same airflow as me, but much richer AFR and much less timing. Very interesting! I have a few things I need to try when I get the car back together... I'll also upgrade rods too, I'd like to run nitrous next year.
I'll get some pics of the current setup tomorrow before I tear it apart :)

I'm actually a member of DSMlink forums now, Kevin :) Lots to learn... good threads. Anyone that is dedicated to buying DSMlink, has a lot of restraint from posting, and is a serious person should consider requesting an account there.

holy shit thats nice... too bad your season is over without getting to the dyno to see what the numbers were! looks like you had a good year tho it seems, low 11s is pretty fuckin nice man! i would cream for a low 11 time slip right now... but my season is over for the RST and just beginning for the GST :) although i am selling it rather quickly here, just have to finish up the contract and its gone. working on a stroker motor right now, getting the block bored .040 over, eagle rods, 4g64 6 bolt crank, and wiesco 8.5:1 pistons - i cant wait!

I'm tearing down the motor tonight or tomorrow. I'm dying to see what is really wrong. Some hope has been kindled that the block may still be alright. ;)
I do wish I dynoed the car. The dsm.org calc says 541whp at my weight, and that fits in with what other cars I know have dynoed. Ah well. The good thing though is that the dynos dont close for the winter, so if the car isnt as bad as I originally thought, I have something to pass the time at least.
