1967-1969 Mustang

I'm looking for a 67 to 69 Mustang. Does anyone know where I can find one? I'm looking to build from the ground up, so I don't want to spend any more than a grand. Thanks for your help.

Just from an enthusiast stand point, I seriously doubt you're going to find a Mustang, from that era, for under a grand. So with that said, I really wish you the best on your venture. And post some pics when you get one or when you finish the restoration.:)

I also am looking for a Mustang in that era for around the same price. But I have also included through '74. There are a few out there but it will take some time.

1000 Bucks is a real fixer upper price. Typically a person can spend more fixing one up that buying one ready to go!

Mustangs in that era are running about 2500.00 Just for the frame I got lucky in 1999 and found a partially wrecked one that was still drivable without any frame damage just front right fender, hood grille, and light gasket.
(lucky for me the guy hit a deer) and it was 2200.00. so far I've invested about 5500.00 in restoration, Engine work, Brake work and interior work.
I suggest driving around and looking on the side of the road your best deals will be from private individuals. You can also check out your junk yards and any kind of "Penny Pincher" paper with ads. Good luck!

I don't mean to discourage you either, but it's going to take a lot more money to buy and fix up a 67 - 69 Mustang. Although parts are readily available and all you really need these days is an old shell, they add up and this hobby can get pricey.

Four years ago, I heard about a '67 Fastback through a friend of a friend who was going through a divorce. He needed quick cash, so I go the car for $3,500.00, but it hadn't run in six years and need a lot of TLC. Six months later the car was running after rebuilding brakes, electrical, carburator and fuel system. I've made due with a lot parts already on the car and I've done my own work for the most part, but I'm still in about $ 8,000.00 total.

I got lucky because my car cleaned up well and had new tires on it, but I still need to rebuild my steering, install a decent radiator and vacuum pump (yes I run radical cam :devil: ) and fix some minor rust issues that are probably worse than I believe!

I am very fortunate because my investment for a fastback model is probably a third of what the car's value is.

I sincerely wish you and everyone else looking into a project of this sort the very best of luck. It's people like you who ensure that this hobby will be around for years and the aftermarket is as strong as it is.

$1000 probably is unreasonable for that year stang. I searched for 3 years, all makes, under $5000 you're buying parts and a car that barely runs, and usually has a LOT of rust! My 67 has some rust, but all the mechanicals were upgraded by the previous owner and I paid $7500 initially and have put in another $1000 with more to come.

I own 2 '67 coupes and i only paid $500 for one and $450 for the other. The $500 one I am fixing up for myself. I use the other one for parts, nothing more. But you have to keep in mind I live in a small town in Kentucky where it is not uncommon to find such deals. Try driving through the country, glancing over through farm fields and such and you'll be surprised what you might find.
