I just replaced the crank position sensor on my car, what a pain. The car runs a little better, but it still misses when warm...it has new plugs and wires.
Does anyone understand this problem? When the car is warm and I step on the gas hard, the rpm goes up, but the tranny doesn't kick in until I release the gas pedal and then step on it again, plus it stumbles when accelerating, but it doesn't really do it when the engine is cool. At first I thought it might be the tranny slipping, but it accelerates well when it wants so I think it is something else as it is intermittent, possibly a communication error somewhere. I get no codes at all. Could it be the throttle position sensor?

The throttle position sensor could be the problem but you should get a computer code if that is the case. I would change the vacuum modulator on the transmission. I believe Fram has one for about $12 as it sounds like it is not engaging properly when you push the gas peddle. When you let off the gas peddle the engine will produce a large amount of vacuum and will cause the modulator to work. I would expect this will cure your problem. Also, check and make sure all you vacuum hoses are properly connected on the engine and at the transmission. Good Luck!
