detonation sensor

I have a 1994 Nissan Pick up 4X4 3.0 motor. I got a trouble code 34 that states,The detonation sensor circuit is open or shorted, anybody know what this means?

well depending how your ecu interprets the signal, it either means your ECU is constatly being told there is detonation in your combustion chanber and will constantly take measures to avoid it (retarding timing or enriching the af ratio). Or that your detonation sensor is not sendind anything meanint that if there will be detonation your ECU will not know and not be able to correct it.
