Hi folks
I recently bought a 2002 GTP. After much thought I have decided I do not like the interior dash backlight color. It is an ugly red especially when at full bright! The same lighting is also used in the power windows/doors buttons, gear shift lettering and all that other crap.
As far as I can tell its a red bulb placed behind each of these sections which leaks the red through the semi transparent letters and numbers. Am I right to make this assumption? Or is it really a reddish transparency that is simply changing the color of the white bulb behind the pieces.
Either way I would love to change the color to somehing less harsh on my eyes, perhaps a blue. I have a few questions tho :
Is it possible for me, a complete newbie to car modifying, to change this on my own?
If possible, what would you figure the pricing range of a project like this?
Where can I order such bulbs(I'm assuming they're bulbs anyway}?
Thanks in advance

there are aftermarket guage cluster panels available for many cars on e-bay, but the switchgear and console panel lights are not changeable as far as I know.

I found this while browing around the web:
"After reading about changing the color of the instrument cluster lights I
decided to change mine but after i switched to red lights it looked weird
since all the other lights on the dash were green and orange so I pulled
the bulbs and colored them with a red magic marker. Know all the lights
on the dash are red and it defiantly looks beater . It only took me an
hour to do it all and it was defiantly worth it. Just figured I would
throw out an idea."
This idea seems really cheap :) which is great... if it works anyone ever heard or seen this being done before and have good results come of it?

like richtazz said, it cant be done on pontiac instumentation, the red is in the plastic behind the cluster. not a bulb. You could possible change the bulb color to somehting that might work with red to give a different color (ie. blue light bulb + already red gauges = purple gauges, etc.) just an idea. Im sure tehre is somehting cheap you can do to alter the looks a bit

someone on clubgp did this. changed all the lights from red to blue. I believe he used LED's instead of bulbs.
