I have a 89 with a 350 and stock exhaust. 3 inch inlet, dual outlet. Will removing the cat effect my O2 sensor, or will the truck run just fine without the cat?

I'd advise you not to remove your cats. You will not gain anything by it, and the truck will sound like shit.

I gutted the cat on mine...sounds fine...nice crackle
Of course i run absolutley not mufflers or anything, just straight out the bed. Every now and then I get a SES light because of it, but I don't really worry about it.

i put a flo pro v force muffler on it and it doesnt sound much different than stock. I think removing the cat will give me just the little extra sound i want. I just dont want to jack up my computer and have the truck running like crap.

If you take the cat out of your 89, it will sound sweet. I HATE how cats sound on trucks. Make it sound like there is plastic wrap in the pipes. In my old 94, I had headers, no cat, and a 3" flowmaster. MANY people asked me how to make theirs sound the same. Don't run straight pipes though with no mufflers. That will sound like junk. Make sure you have a good deep toned muffler. Also make sure there is no O2 sensor behind the cat. if not, you will never see a SES light with the older ODB 1 computers.
