heres my problem.
My 1999 Intrepid overheats when driving on the freeway for about 10 minutes. It also overheats while driving in town, it just takes a little more time to overheat.
I have taken this thing to the mechanic countless times and still have the same problem. I have replaced the thermostat, cam sensor, fan relays, fan motors, the radiator, had everything flushed, still didn't fix the problem.
I also have other problems with the car: the oil light likes to come on and blink while im at a stop, the dome light flickers on and off while driving, the auto down window switch does not work, and the heater/AC only works on high speed. I believe it is called the blower resistor which I have replaced twice. This worked for about 2 days (the heater/AC would blow on all speeds). My mechanic said he thinks this part is getting to much power and is shorting it out.
Any ideas on what the problem could be? Is all this linked to the same electrical spot in the car?
Please help.

Next time you go to your mechanic, ask him to check the bulkhead connector that's underneath your dash. Sometimes, if corrosion has developed in that main connector, it will cause random problems to occur. The overheat thing, try when the engine gets warm, with a rag over your hand, put your hand on the upper radiator hose and feel for fluid flow if there is no flow or not enough, you could have a faulty water pump and you might have coolant passages blocked inside of the engine. I'm sure that when the mechanic who "flushed" out your system only flushed out the radiator, not the entire engine.

I also had a problem with my 1999 2.7L Intrepid getting hot and pushing the temp gauge up higher than I was comfortable with. My mechanic couldn't find the reason. I took the car to a large car repair shop thinking they could flush and replace coolant and thermostat. It helped very little so I made an appt. with the local dealership. The car lost all of its coolant on the freeway the day b4 my appt. w/ the dealer. It turns out the plastic coolant reservour had a very small pin hole located next to the firewall so nobody could see it. This pin hole got larger and the coolant sprayed out. The plastic reservor is 400 dollars so check if the pressure is o.k. in the cooling system. That was last year and the car is running fine, burns a little oil engine has 120k miles. Plastic parts don't last very long good luck.TW
