My girlfriend's Ciera wouldn't start this morning. The engine turns over fine when key is forward, but not getting a start. I tried turning key to on position without starting car to listen for sounds (thought it may be fuel pump) and there is a weird clicking sound near the forward passenger side of engine. Someone told me it may be from a relay. I still have to check the spark plugs because i dont know when the last tune-up was. Also, not sure if i'm really hearing a clicking from starter, but I'm kinda new to cars and at quick glance didnt see where starter was. :screwy: I need to goto work quick, but any suggestions would be appreciated. I will have more time to look at it later and will post more info then. Thanx!

ok, so now i'm getting really confused. A mechanic told me he thought it would be a relay that goes to somethin like the starter or fuel pump. I also read somethin about that online. So, i sent my girlfriend to get a relay when i was at work and the people at autozone and Napa both said it cant be a relay and must be somethin like the starter. They recommend taking the starter out so that they can test it for free. This is gonna be a pain due to its location. So i was wondering if anyone else has heard a clicking sound in the forward part of an engine when the key is turned forward, but not all the way forward as if starting the car? Do starters make a clicking sound when u just give power to the car and dont turn it over when they go bad? As I said, this is starting to confuse me, any help will be much appreciated. Thanx.

guess no one has replied, but if anyone else has this problem i figured it out. It is the solenoid on the starter that is goin bad. Any questions on how to replace this just send me a message.
