360 Spider (first pics)

Well started work today on the spider. Seeing as I am not using the optional top I used that to test what the Deep Metallic Blue would look like on the finished product.

Using a grey primed base the blue comes out extremely dark (almost black looking in photos). I may try part with a silver base over the primer to see how that comes out.

The paint mix for the Beige leather interior as stated in the instructions was to be 1 part X-6 (orange) to 10 parts XF-15 (flat flesh) but this came out a bit too orange for my likeing so I added a bit more XF-15.
(ratio approaching 1 X-6 : 12 XF-15)

It may have been because my measuring was basically estimated as I didn't have any proper measuring device (I used straws :) )

The blue is pretty dark looking....but hard to tell in the pics.
Looks to be going well so far.

Is the blue you doing a factory colour ??

I don't think it is a factory colour, I just saw the colour and thought that it would look good on a Ferrari instead of the common reds, silvers and yellows.

They were released in silver, red, yellow, blue, green, black, and white.

With the main interiors being black and beige.

Isn't it that with the 360 Ferrari (for additional cost) lets you provide them with a sample of any colour you want and you can get the car like that? Very convenient for modelling :) Although maybe it was different with the Spider.

No, you are right Alex, you can have any Ferrari in any colour, and the blue will look great, so stick with it!!!!
Be careful with glueing all the bits on the body, they all need panel lines so don't fill them with glue!
But the front vents need filling by the front wheels! Looking forward to seeing this one! I still haven't decided on a colour for mine!!!

What kind of blue is that going to be? I love azuro hyperion on Ferrari's also. sweet looking color.

the colour is TS-53 Deep Metallic blue

HHHHHMMMMMM. Just noticed that the carpets seem to be based on the exterior colour of the car where as the instructions make it the same as the seats

Yeah, i think i'll do my carpet to match the dash, what color is your leather going to be? and are you going to paint the dash the same color?

So, does anyone know where I can get detailed engine pictures of this car? I am about to start mine and want it to be as accurate as possible. The lower dash section is being painted the same colour as the seats (beige leather) Stillnot 100% sure what colour to do the carpets. Any sugestions????

After the first few coats on the interior I decided that it would be a good idea to test fit it all together with the shell to see how the colours would work together. What do you think?

when It's finised. I still have 1 more coat of paint to put on then clear coats.

That and I still have the majority of the internals and engine to start/ complete

Bit too much biege IMO!

I would go with black carpet and the rear section behind the seat in black.
Really, as Ferrari do it is perfect!

The problem is I'm not 100% sure how Ferrari do it.

I've seen pics of the red car with beige seats but red carpets. I haven't seen interior pics of the blue with beige seats so have nothing to compare with:(

So it will just stay how Tamyia have them.

Oh yeah no new pics or work done today as I was too busy procratinating and spent ALL DAY doing nothing (it was shear bliss:) )

UPDATE:
the final coats of paint have gone on the shell and the metallic bluse loos sooo nice, The metallic flecks are the perfect size for 1:24 scale models. I recommend if you can find this paint TS-53 Deep Metallic blue then give it a go, you won't be disappointed:frog:

I've actually been in a Ferrari 360. A friend of the family had a maroon 360 with the beige interior. The carpet is actually more red than beige. It looks very good to. I used a maroon-red color for the carpets and back walls on the 360. By the way the guy traded the car straight for a Ferrari 550.

The color looks great. I can't wait to see the finished product.

well the interior and engine areas are complete and I am happy with them:) .

All that is left now is tidying up the shell and assembling it all into one classy looking automobile.

The dark blue shell and the beige interior seem to complement each other very well indeed, can't wait to finish it;) . But I will, even if it drives me crazy:bloated:

Here is the front.

I decided to give only a light coat of paint arounf the headlights as most of the pictures I have seen the headlight area is a paler colour (not clear coated). I think it has come up well
