Loud tappet

Wife had a mustang II 1978, V6 engine with 65,000 miles on it and the valve tappet has been loud since she bought the car. Are the valve lifters hydraulic or solid in the car?

I don't know for sure but I can say with 90% certainty there hydraulic. Only very high performance motors got solid lifters from Ford stock.
