It screams "Bring the Integra (RSX) Type-R to America because I am so slow and this is the best excuse (+10hp) Acura can come up with to keep my burly brother away from your driveway"

It has 10 more hp, but its about 80lbs heavier, apparantly is handles a little better. Now the japanese rsx type r has 217hp thats only 7 more hp,BUT HAS slightly better engine internals and transmission, LSD, and BETTER suspension and yes it probably about 100-150 lbs lighter. Now a Type s already costs 34000$ - (canadian), which means if the r would come here it would probably cost about 38000-39000$, thats almost the price of an s2000. I asked a salesman at a car show and he said that honda has no plans to bring the R here since they think that there is no market for it, even if its a limited production.

I think we're all just a little bitter that they came out a little better car than what we've got and we have to justify by saying we have a "better looking" car. :sly:
So are we going to split the forum up to RSX 02-04 and RSX-05 so we don't insult anyone that's bought or going to buy an '05? :grinno:
One question still stands. If you had a choice between an '04 and an '05, which would you get. Personally, I'd get the '05 because first on my list is performance, then quality, then looks. Actually, maybe I should be driving an SRT-4! :grinno: :iceslolan :grinno:

I'd choose the 05 too...handling and performance are what I prefer. Although I SHOULD be driving an RX-8 GT.....
However, this still stands: MY GAUGES WILL KICK THE 2005 RSX GAUGE'S ASS!!!! ...or needles or LED's or bezels or something.:D
Oddly enough as much as the 05 isn't as good looking as the 02-04's, the new Type R looks awesome. Especially milano red with a Mugen body kit, wing, hood and Blitz rims
Why doesn't my backyard have a money tree!:(

RSX owners need to stick together...so I'm just going to give the 05'ers a little bit of a hard time. They have to sit at the BACK of the bus. Besides, it will be easier to see Canuck's new RX-8, and my new Z or IS300 coming up from that vantage point. :evillol:

BLU CIVIC
09-27-2004, 05:09 PM
the whole reason for the 10hp jump IMO is to say it has 5hp more than the saturn redline, which has 205hp...5 more than the current rsx...so i'm guessing the the current sprots compact hp war is going on at a rate of 5hp a year
RSX-S777
09-27-2004, 06:55 PM
Yet still nothing from Honda in answer to the Evo and Sti. Problem is, the RSX won't go much higher as far as hp is concerned unless the S2000 does- and how much more hp can they squeeze out of THAT 4 cyl.? Honda is at a point where they may need to think about being a bit more daring.
BLU CIVIC
09-28-2004, 09:37 AM
there was a discusion about this a while ago and the answer was that honda didn't need to compete with the EVO or STi unless it wanted to...and not out of necessity...the only AWD know of honda makin is the civic wagovan...and stock turbo hondas...well i don't know of any...but as far as the US market, the civic is all Honda needs unless it decides to try something different...but i'm sure they are not trying to come out with a car that will interfer with their civic and rsx market
RSX-S777
09-28-2004, 07:13 PM
I'm not so much thinking of on awd car, or even a forced induction model (though those would be beautiful). Imagine what they could do with the 3.0 liter 6 if they decided to tune it as highly as the S2000's 4 cyl.- we all know they are able to squeeze the max out of engines. They need to evolve if they want to stay competetive. Reliable, yes. Aesthetically pleasing, yes. But they risk losing market share to the companies rolling out affordable high hp/ high performance. You're right, they don't NEED to do it. But 210 hp RSXs aren't going to cut it with the performance minded in the very near future...
mason_RsX
09-29-2004, 08:37 AM
So very true...but Honda as revolutionary as they can be, does really stick to their old principles...no AWD, no RWD, no turbo, and only as much power as is necessary...their policies are changing a bit (RL, S2000) but their commitment to fuel economy remains ironclad...mabe in the next rsx they will put the 2.4L and tune that to some serious hp?
crazy_canuck
09-29-2004, 04:28 PM
The Civic Wagovan or whatever isn't the only Honda AWD, the Japanese CL7 (TSX) has available AWD, SH-AWD on the RL and Honda was thinking about a turbo for the TSX AWD so that the added weight of the AWD system and the underpowered TSX will now have some speed.
RSX-S777
09-29-2004, 05:01 PM
Think about a turboed awd RSX-S. Drool...
And BTW, I have to admit, the new design has even grown on me too. That commercial makes it look quite badass...

^ Yeah.
The commercial is a page right out of Scion's book. Although all of the RSX commercials were cool this is right up there with the "Integra Type R In The Blood commercial" and the powersliding one. I've only seen this on once though, and can't find it on the internet.
Apparently there are 2 other ones, one with fighter jets/pilots and one with a silver RSX by a beach....

the k2o engine is new there have been many that have turbo the car, but i compare the k20 to that of the 2zzge from the celica, i belive these engines are sensitive to turbos, so i would keep them NA.
crazy_canuck

The K20A2 is a good NA engine, but you can only go NA so far.....a SC or a turbo (as long as it isn't a ton of boost) would be very doable.

OK the thing about Honda's is that they are
1. Mechanically reliable vehicles.
2. Great gas mileage.
3. Sell wonderfully here in North America
4. Make sporty great handling fwd cars that don't comprimise safety and reliability for speed.
5. More hp out of their inline 4 cylinder engines that almost any other car company out there.
6.Honda masters everything it does its I4 engines are legendary D,B,H,F, and K. So don't you think when they get around to really tuning their 6 cylinder engines that they will be able to come out with something amazing or even more so than the 3.2L V6 in the NSX?
Give Honda time they didn't become the best b/c they were stupid. Plus on the power side of the 05 RSX Type S it's not like the 01's-04's can't be easily modded to make the same hp as the stock 05 and in the end the 05 and models before will probably make the same hp if you put on the same bolt ons.
As for being a VR6 driver I wish VW was on par with Honda when it comes to making fast reliable cars in a decent price range. It seems VW comes up a day late and a dollar short most of the time with their cars. The new I4 16v FSI turbo is the only thing I am really excited about coming out from VW yes in 07 the 3.6VR6 will be coming out with 280hp and around the same tq but until then the 3.2VR6 will remain overpriced in my opinion. For around $30-$32 grand I could get an EVO,STI, or 350Z to name a few that easily compete with the new VW R32 Golf. Sorry for the long post but for you people just be glad Honda for most of the part does it's best which is better than most.

Not being biased, but I just test drove the 05 Type-S, and I cant tell a difference at all. They let me take it out on the twisties (I live in colorado springs, the dealership is literally minutes from pikes peak.) I felt a little more confidence in corners, but nothing even a aftermarket strut bar would not make a 02-04 do. like the new guages, but not worth it for the horrible taillights and headlights.
