you have to remove the dash around the radio. then you have to pop up the dash pad (on top, under the windshield) on the driver's side. i think there are three clips that you have to pop out. you have to remove the driver's a pillar piece and the dash panel under the steering column. once you get all that stuff out of the way you can remove the trim piece that goes all the way around the instrument panel and the HVAC controls. once you do that, than you can remove the instrument cluster, which unbolts as an assembly. you remove the clear plastic cover, and u have to make sure that you remove the factory gauge overlays. also, make sure that you note where the guages are.

there are probably steps im missing cause i did it a while ago...

i doubt it diablo, i tried setting my brothers mileage in his trans am at zero when we had a new motor and transmission put in it, cause it had almost 240,000 miles on it. i couldnt turn the #'s all i could do was go to a junk yard, i did find one with 20 some thousand miles on it.

the numbers are either gear driven (third gens and earlier) or computer controlled (most fourth gens). it is possible but you have to completely break down the cluster and rip apart the number cylinders, and put it back together at a different reading...

you can change the numbers... you just need to take them apart from one another and set them back in the mileage you want...

also would anyone like the link to face gauge overlays that you print from your computer???
