Glove Box Installation - 66 Mustang Coupe

I replace the radio in my 66 Mustang coupe, in doing so, I had to remove the original 38 year old cardboard glove box, which was in tatters prior to the removal.

So I have a replacement and I have no idea how to get it in. It looks like it was factory installed from the rear of the dashboard. Obviously I don't want to try to remove the dash to install the glove box, but right now it is a square peg trying to fit into the circular hole.

I am open to all suggestions, thanks in advance.

I have the same car, and had the same problem. The only way that I could figure out how to get it in was to push it in from behind the dash. If you can get around the heater box and wiring harness it should squeeze by. I even took out the windshield defroster hoses to see if I could get a better angle. I ended up just somewhat forcing it in there. It is pretty strong for a wax/cardboard paper box. You just need a little time to work it in there. Hope this helps

Thanks for the reply. I have tried forcing it, but have always been worried about it collapsing. I will give it a try with a little more force.
