A little help here please...

There is a light on that looks like a wrench (first one from the left) on the instrument panel above the my head. I bought my '99 cougar V6 used and it didn't come with an owners manuel. Can anyone tell me what this wrench means? Also, my dash glows in and out when I am idling. I've already replaced the alternator--any other suggestions?

check for bad connection at the battery, and the battery
i think that wrench means it need to be serviced

the little yellow wrench is a service light, it needs to be reset, and you can reset it with holding the mode button and another button down( can't remember which one) at the same time then while holding them down turn the key from off to on ( with out starting car) either 2 or 3 times in a row , then the service wrench will go out.
