hi guys...
i am new here
anyway i got a burning question
i am about to put a modified 20b tt in my 929
here are the specs
Some of the unique features of this project include:
* Custom subframe, spindles, relocated Power steering rack
*Ceramic Coated engine rotors- this greatly reduces thermal heat
transfer to the rotor and all seals, resulting in more power and less
stress on the apex seals in particular.
*HD 2mm apex seals
*Extrude Honed and Ceramic Coated Intake & exhaust Manifolds
*Large Streetport with Matchported intake runners
*Cryogenic treatment of all engine parts
*Twin intank fuel pumps with mounting bracket
*Custom Aluminum Radiator
*Dual Fluidyne oil coolers with Goodridge lines
*Six RX8 individual coils
*Aluminum flywheel
*Aquamist Water injection
*"T" series Ballbearing Turbo
*Custom DP, & exhaust with Wastegate
all this is going to be easy over 20k
right now , i am not sure if i want to go trough with the
rotary engine or just get a supra twin turbo engine
so what do you guys think...rotary or supra, which one should
i put in?
and...how much will it be for a supra tt engine?
and do you think it will fit?
THX already
see ya

Tough question. By a Supra TT engine I'm gussing your refering to the 3L 2JZGTE in the latest generation of Supras. What do you want out of the car? Thetwo swaps will probably have similar costs if you are going with a built engine. The 2j will offer better low end torque, and can be pushed into the low 1000HP band if thats how far you want to go. Obviously the engine will weigh more which will have an ipmact on handeling and breaking. I don't know if it will fit. The 2j is an inline 6 makning it relatively long. The firewall and fenders may have to be adjusted for fit. The rotary has an advanage here. being a fairly small engine you can locate it further back in the engine bay for better front to rear weight bias. Also being lighter means there is less strain on the suspension and breaking systems. Handeling also gets a boost. With less weight over the front wheels there will be less understeer by comparison to the 2j. The rotary has a higher rev limit than the 2j, however the 2j is no slouch in this department either. The 2j is nearly bomb proof. Roteries on the other hand are verry suseptibale to damage under high boost. Detination will absolutly destroy your apex seals. I have also read of housing and E shaft distortion in high HP aplications. Over all both are great engines. I would recomend using the 2JZ if you are going to drag race and the rotary for autocross/road racing.
