ok... i lost that damn code!.. apparently i stored it in my phone and forgot that i deleted the memory couple months back.
for those of you who've worked on your stereo system.... any suggestions on the quickest and easiest way to remove the head unit to retrieve the serial #? would taking the driver's side center console panel off allow me to reach it? i don't feel like starting the work untill i know the EASIEST way to get to it. :grinno:
at of now, i have a bigger problem than that stupid password. my ISC just busted. she's been idling strange (stall, idle surge and shit) lately. so Mr. i got nothing to do did a measurement of the resistance on the ISC last night... turned out that they were 42-47 while the standard should be 28-33. still looking for an used one to replace that.
that being said.. i still will get to the stupid stereo eventually.

all u need to do is pull the black cover around the stereo and the serial would be on the top left corner of the radio if i'm not mistaken. than call the dealer with the #, and they will tell u 3 possible codes. than u need to figure which one it is exsactly. as for the ISC, call some local junkyards, my 0.02$...

I think I took like 4? screws out and just pulled it out until I could read the number. There was no need to disconnect any wires.

What code it that. I called my dealer and asked for the sterio code. The dumbass told me that it would cost me $50 because he had to reset the #. If there is another way let me know too.
Thanks

Damn fuckin dealers. Call another one up and ask them for the radio code. You will get the code for free. You will need the serial number off the radio and the VIN of your car, I think that is all.
If you can't find a dealer that will do it for free, call up one of these dealers (I can't remember which one I called) they gave me mine for free. If you don't want to make the long distance call, PM me your VIN and serial number off the radio and I will try to get the radio code.
(734)663-7770 - Ann Arbor Mitsubishi
(313)846-2494 - Joe Ricci Mitsubishi
(248)353-0910 - Moran Mitsubishi
I THINK it was Ann Arbor mitsu, but I am not 100% sure. But one of those should give you the code for free

NEver needed the serial number, just the VIN. My brother works for mitsu though so he called to get the code. They may ask for the serial number just to make sure it atches the vin. But that would be gay, since people do swap radios (I went to the 97-99 CD headunit).

Moran Mitsu is the one to call!

See, now that doesnt make sense. You should need the vin number, or whats teh point of having the code! Some assclown can come steal my radio, then call a dealer and get the unlock code. Defeats the purpose entirely. :)

It sure doesnt make sense. But if some dumbass is going to go through the trouble of sealing my stock radio go the fuck ahead. If they have half a brain they would get the VIN off the dash anyways.
Ricerocket called one of the other mitsu dealer I listed and they tell you the code for free but they want you to come in and tell them the VIN and serial # and show them some ID.

ya.. Moran is the one to go. i was surprised that they didn't even ask me for the VIN. the dude was slow on getting the serial # off me tho. had to read it to him 8 times to get it right. but was nice enough to give me the code straight out. definitely should bookmark that dealer on some sort of READ THIS FIRST and lost password info :).
seriously... if some dude goes through the trouble and hack into my car and steal the stock headunit. i'd say he deserve the code. it's a POS.
