Please help I have a 99 Alero.

This past weekend had to have the alternator replaced and now the radio has a "loc" message on it and will not do anything.

From what I have found out I am needing to enter a code to unlock this and I do not know the code or how to enter it.

I have spoke to the dealer and they want $63 to enter the new code and of course since I had the alternator replaced at Sears they are not abel to do this.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

call 1-800-442-OLDS and see if they can help you. You may need your VIN number when you call.

Yup what he said 1-800-442-OLDS
You held 2 keys at the same time which activated the theft-lock
You can also call your dealer if you bought it new. If not the 1-800 # will know with you VIN #

For those looking for GM Radio Theftlock Bypass instructions, here you go...

1. Press and hold presets 2 & 3 for about 10 seconds until the first 3 digits of the display code are displayed.
2. Write the numbers down.
3. Press the AM/FM button, write down the next 3 numbers.
4. Call 1-800-537-5140, when asked, enter 202107, press the # button and enter the 6 digit code from the radio, you will get an unlock code, write it down.
5. Go back to the car, press the HR button and set the first 2 numbers, then press minute button and set the next
two last numbers, press AM FM button, SEC should be displayed, turn on radio.

To remove customers code, repeat step 5. you should see --- on radio face, the code is now out of the radio.

Demanufactured,

I currently have the same problem with my 99 Alero GL2. The radio is locked and I need the code. I got the first two sets of three digits from the procedure listed by old mike above, but the 202107 code doesn't work for me either.

Anyone out there who could help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

try 02107, see what happens. This a dealer code, first 2 numbers are the zone, last 3 are the dealers number in that zone, when I was with Oldsmobile all dealer codes were 5 digits.

Procedure:
01. Turn the ignition ON (The radio displays LOC)
02. Hold down the Radio Presets 2 and 3 buttons for six seconds
03. The radio display changes from LOC to a three-digit number. Write this number down. Don’t take forever, fifteen seconds max before the next step.
04. Press the AM/FM button
05. The radio display changes to another three-digit number. Write this number down.
06. You now have a six-digit number, the first three digits are from STEP 03 and the last three digits are from STEP 05
07. Call 1 800 537 5140
08. Press 1 then # (pound). You’ll hear “Invalid Code, try again”
09. Press 139010 then # (pound). You will be asked to enter your four or six digit code followed by * (star)
10. Enter the number from STEP 6 then * (star)
11. Listen to the four-digit number and write it down. It will be repeated twice
12. Turn the ignition ON (The radio displays LOC)
13. Use the MN and HR buttons to enter the code from STEP 11
14. Press the AM/FM button. The radio display changes to SEC
