Ok i went to cerritos lincoln/murcury dealor and was talking to some of the mechanics. I was asking them if they had ever tuned a lincoln ls before, they said because all tuning is done at a tune shop out in pomona or something. They said there is an authorised shop with all the codes and everything that can tune. And that any good shop can do a custom job to get ur SC or TC in and this shop can tune it all and change computer stuff. but you will be left with a void warranty because of the custom job, but if u want to change the computer(not chip) the authorzed shop can do that and u will not void ur warranty. IS THIS BS OR WHAT?????? Are there tuning shops out there with all the codes(not cracked) or are these dealorship mechanics BSing me.

The LS was the first Ford to use the new 'Black Oak' processor - which uses a compiled language as its operating system. This is unique - as PCMs in the past stored tables of sensor data in a fixed location - allowing 'tuners' to simply change those values to change the behavior of the engine. In the LS the location of the data table change with every compile - so there is no easy way to adjust these values - you have to reverse engineer the code - which will change for every PCM level.

Apparantly, SuperChipsCustom http://www.sctflash.com/main.php has done the black oak, and even an LS - 14rwhp gain.

Problem is - you have to send them your PCM and they reprogram it. So if you ever go to the dealer - they can not use there standard tools to diagnos the car - and your out of luck....

If you ever need a PCM reflash to correct a TSB - your out of luck - or you loose your programming.

The guy checking me in at my local dealership told me Diablo made an LS chip... which I don't believe is the case. Pretty scary, since he's in charge of the entire service department.

you are correct - none of the major 'chippers' do - the LS/T-bird was too small of a market for them. The good news is that the newer Fords will be carrying the same type of PCM (2002+ LS) so they'll crack it for the Mustang and F150. It may leave us 00-01 LS owner out.... :(

I had quite a long discussion with that guy - gotta hand it to him. Here's what he told me:
- didn't crack the PCM - but didn't have to as appartently there was even auto adjustment in the fuel to compensate
- he isn't running the turbo anymore

I had a hard time believing you could turbo the LS if you could control the fuel/air/spark.....
