My car is in the process of being rebuild at a local performance shop right now and I miss her more and more every day, but she will be comming home soon ( WOOOOHOOOO ) But gettin to the point they gave me a call today and suggested that they install a balance shaft eliminator kit. Now it was only $50 so i just said hell whats another $50 right. What does this part i just bought do???

Eliminates the chance that the front bshaft will sieze up and toss the bsahft belt, thereby taking out the main timing belt, and the chance that the bearing will spin and come apart ruining other bearings and taking out the turbo. It removes a couple pounds of rotating mass, but its main function is to make the motor more reliable. ;)

If the motor is being rebuilt there should be no extra charge, since there is no extra work involved. In the car though, and I can see why. Its a LOT of work to get the bshafts out with the motor in the car. A good bit more work even if you are already sapping the oil pump in the car (but the pump swap is 90% of it).

and the removal of the balance shaft is said to free up 8-10 HP too...
