hey im only 17 and i dont know much about car audio. im just looking for a good sounding very loud system. i have a 1975 oldsmobile cutlass 4 door. if anyone has seen one before they have a huge trunk so i have lots of room for anything. right now all i have in it is a pioneer cd player and 4 pioneer 3 way 6X9's. im looking into getting a sub. and i'd like some suggestions on what the best amp(s) would be for me to get. also i need information on a good amp . i dont plan on getting into any competion i just want to make enough bass for people to feel it in there cars around mine... thats all :-)
I live in Washington and we just got a new eletronics store called Fryes. I went there and checked there car audio department out. They had some awesome equipment. The guy that worked there suggested buying some Kicker S12L7 12" L7 1500 Watt Subs . At the store there like 350. So i came home and looked online. On ebay you can buy them for 209 a peice right now. Is that smart buying subs from ebay? This is in my price range im looking for a sub for around 300 a peice. i want prolly 2 12's. I dont have any idea what amp i would want to get. So please give me some suggestions or links to good sites to look into. Thanks

Stay away from Kicker and probably anything you find at Fryers.
Are you looking for more SQL (quality) or SPL (the feeling and loudness) out of your system? Since you other people to feel it, I'm guessing SPL. What is your price range?

kicker are more SPL oriented, I don't really know what is wrong with them though if you want to go that way...

what would you suggest then? i'll spend around 300 for each sub. i thought those kickers were good. im not sure what i want exactly. i want it to be really loud but not sound distorted or anything.

I would try a SX, a blueprint, ov2, one of the above

Im sorry but this guy said he is kind of a newb to car audio right? Theres no way in hell that a newb will even notice the difference between the two. Theres no reason to spend that much more money for a starter system. Just my opinion. You will be happy with kicker squares.

I would rather have started out right then not started out good at all... and yes he will notice when he hears other people's systems. Also the nine.1 should be fine. Make sure brahma is a dual 2... I am not sure.

Sorry... I was just thinking. You might be ending up over powering that sub by quite a bit. The nine.1s are being benched around 1500 at the moment. Make sure you know how to set those gains right ;)

how hard would it be to set the gains on the nine.1 for the brahma 12?

alright well i think i figured out what i want to get for now. i wanna start with a brahma 12 and a nine.1 amp and i still need to find a box for it. i really just want a cheap box for now. cus when i get more $$ im gonna end up getting another brahma 12 and getting a custom box so i can put both of them in it. so for now i just want a box for the single 12. how much is a single box for a 12 gonna set me back? hoping for around 60 bucks or so. is that possible?

if you know what you are doing it isn't hard. Just know what you are doing, and don't blame me if either causes a fault. In reality the brahma is made for about 1000 watts, but if you know how to set gains you can feed 2500 watts to a 1000 watt sub

depending on your box, you only need like 700-800 watts

anyway you could help me do it or would it just be easier to wait till i get the amp and have someone help me with it?
