i just got home from trying to pull said assembly out of a car i found in a junkyard. need it for my AOD->T5 conversion. the car was buried in weeds and had broken glass lying in the floor. i tried to pull it myself in order to save 30 bucks to have it done.

this was a MISTAKE. i ended up on my back with cardboard between me and broken glass. i tried to unmount the steering column and got a shower of rust in my face, nearly blinding myself. about then i decided to give up and pay the guy what he wanted to pull it for me. as i got out of the car, i was stung by a hornet. i got halfway back to my car and discovered i had been bitten by a spider.

point of this rant is, spend the extra money and have somebody who's used to this sort of work do it. did i mention that i soaked myself in sweat during this process? if you have a choice, dont' rely on a junkyard car for this.

If you just asked I could of saved you a lesson learned the hard way. If some1 wants $30 buck to pull the brake/clutch pedal ssembly that is a steal. LoL

i do plan to do as much work as possible myself. all the conversion work on my car will be done by me, except where i need an extra set of hands, like when i go to shlep the trans itself into the clutch... what a bear. the only thing i won't be doing myself is the paint and bodywork, which i suck at. my (planned) engine rebuild will be all me as well.

pedals installed! considering that i'd never done it before, it went fairly smoothly. i ended up taking the assembly from my notchback (which will be automatic) and using that. the hardest part of the whole procedure was lining everything back up when i was ready to reinstall.
