Progress: MonteShell Ferrari 348 Challenge

This is the Fujimi kit of a 348 Challenge racer but they don't include a racing interior or the correct wheels.

I am modifying a racing interior from a diecast model and using wheels form the parts box.

The model isn't going to be anywhere near accurate but I don't get all wigged out over that very often.

Here you see the basic parts and the body with the base coats of white(Tamiya TS26). Next I'll mask it off and airbrush the yellow on, hopefully the red decals will go on nicely so I won't have to paint on the red.

A diecast interior? I guess if anybody can make that work, you can Veyron :)
Will be looking forward to seeing this progress.

Let me clarify, the interior is made of plastic which made it easy to butcher....er....modify to fit the 348 chassis.

Masked and ready to paint on yellow.

http://infinite1der.org/~dino/348shellmock2.jpg

Sprayed some Tamiya TS clear into a bottle and airbrushed it around the tape edges to seal it, then sprayed TS yellow into the bottle and airbrushed it on.

Later I will see how well the red stripe decals go on.

dude,
:grinno: that's possibly the worst ever job you could have done, crappy choice of model, dispiccable painting, excremental skills and not even the slightest hint that this will actually be a model.

I hate you man

Oli :grinno:

Since the PMan is not about much at the moment, I think we should oficially pass the mantle of the "PMan shine" to Veyron!

When you say:

Do you mean that as quick as it sounds? Or did you wait for the propellant to gas out of the paint first?

Thanks for that lofty comment....but I'm not worthy of that appointment. :)

Yes, it was pretty much just that quick, I put in a few drops of Mr. Color thinner....don't know if that neutralized the propellant or not.

It seemed to get very cold and bubbly as usual and sprayed fine.

That's a pretty slick way of laying down a straight line. I would've never thought of using clear gloss around the tape edges before painting. Great tip, and I'm sure this will turn out great.

Veyron, I´m really starting to dislike you... No offense, but how can one modeler build so many models without screwing up even ones. And the worst, I never see you complain about any problems with paint or something else.

Aus usual great work and extraordinary paint job. I go on hiding in my modeling cave!!!

Just as I suspected the decal stripes weren't worth a crap, the first one I put in the water tore in two places as a pulled it from the water.

So I immediately masked the body and sprayed some red lacquer.

fantastic masking job! The Tamiya tape is really a miracle when it comes to nice and crisp separation lines!

Ferrari sure doesn't...so Veyron doesn't have to either!
