Saturday night I was out to dinner with my family, and there was some NHRA drag racing on the tv across from the table. I was watching the racing, and my dad mentioned a fire. Not really understanding what he meant, I questioned what the hell he meant. "What fire? Where?" and he told me that while he was putting the valve cover gaskets on my car {I wanted to be there to help out :(}, the guy who works for him got some vaccuum lines got mixed up. When the guy who was helping out started my car, a spark caught onto some carb cleaner and ignited a fire under the hood of my car. Luckily my dad keeps a supersoaker around in case of fires, but he told me this fire was really getting big. I didnt notice anything when I quickly looked at it, but that was before I knew about the fire. :(
I'm still kinda shocked to know that somethin like that happened, but happy its ok :)
Thanx for your time, lol.

Yikes car fires = scary. Alex almost lost his Neon about a year or so ago. One of the wires from the battery had it's coating eaten away by battery acid (@#$% Chrysler batteries leak to no end) and the wiring was exposed and had power going to it. He had just washed the car. I saw smoke coming out and since it was winter I assumed he had washed the car after running it and it was steam. I pointed it out to him and he lifted the hood. We saw a puff of white smoke. He left the hood open. For whatever reason, he got in and started the car. When the engine turned over a big spray of sparks came out of the area where the wire was and then caught on fire. I had the hose in my hand and he shut off the car and I began spraying but the fire would not go out. In a matter of seconds he was able to grab some wire cutters (the car shelf is right there at the entry of the garage) and cut away the wire before the fire spread. He almost burned himself but as soon as the wire was cut everything was fine. He said this was probably happening already so had we not been out there when the wire started this we could have lost the car and possibly the house

electrical fire + water = bad results. never use water on an electrical or chemical fire, it only spreads it. nor should you cut a live wire.
both actions were dangerous
but, i am glad you are both ok
but your house and everything you own is NOT worth either of your lives
