never sell something to a friend

i sold a used 305 h.o. trans am engine to this guy a month ago for $250 i give him the complete engine with starter for that. only thing he didnt get was the alternator. any way this engine had 230,000 miles on it, it smoked, i think all it needed was the heads redone, plus i gave him a rochester quadrajet carb with it, needed rebuilt cause it was flooding the engine out. i told him what was wrong with the heads and i also told him about the carb. he says that friday morning he started it on a engine stand and the smoke was unbearable. (probally from flood), but anyway he called my house all weekend bugging the hell out of me thinking that i was liable for a 18 yr old engine, with 230,000 miles on it, and says that i ripped him off. he new what he was buying, i made him a reciept and it included the date the engine was manufactured and the mileage. he also signed a paper, that i had made up telling what was wrong with the engine, i stated the mileage and i was selling it "as is" and put "NO WARRANTY" on it in bold letters. he signed it, i signed it and a notary signed it and stamped it. i new to do that cause this guy is wierd anyway, he thinks everything should be just give to him, he sits at home on his ass and draws 3,000 a month welfare for the children that him and his wife has. must be nice. a junk yard would have charged $600
or more that motor. but he called again this morning and said man i thing you need to come over here there is something wrong with this motor you sold me. so be ware next time a friend is looking at something you are selling, cause it mightr be more trouble than its worth.

ha, the valveseals needs replaced, other than that engine was strong, it puffed smoke when we would first start it, thats all. it ran smoke free after that.

Getting things in writing is the most important thing, and yeah never EVER sell to family or friends, because if something goes wrong they're all over you.

As far this guy is concerned, tell him quit bugging you or you're having the police charge him with harassment. If it doesn't stop, you can pull your phone records for incoming calls, take them to court, and sue him for money for harrassment and then file a restraining order.

he hasnt called back, i told him in a polite manner ( i should have toild him off), that i wasnt responsible for it, i sold it to him and told him what was wrong with it and wahat it needed to be fixed, the original owner of the car actually rebuilt the engine at 150,000 miles, but they didnt have the heads redone. so there is definatly the problem. i told him not to bother me anymore

Hey, I've got 80W-90 gear oil that I sucked out of the neighbours F-150 differential (don't tell him, I had to wait until he left his house trailer walk to the welfare office ) and it's still smokin'!!

Eh...My friends aren't that big of douche bags. I'll take that engine for $250 if he doesn't want it, i could put it to good use.
