yes thats right B18 C5

i have untill friday night to finish 2 model cars, that i hope to enter into a local model car contest, both of them are civics i had a progress thread a while back but i never opdated and the cars have since gone in the opposite direction.

i dont have much time to type right now, but will do a lot more later, but in short, one of the cars is gonna have a B18C5 fromt he revell ITR and has been twin turboed, using the turbos from the Tamiya Supra TT

it hasnt been cleaned up yet, but this is the general idea

thats cool but a twin isnt going to make much of a difference if it were a real engine.

BTW what did you use to make your pipes to the intercooler? it looks a little funny, they look burnt.

i suggest using chrome parts tree and heating it with a black light bulb, then bending it..youll keep the chrome look.

Sweet. But, what's it going in? Or fit in for that matter?

lol from the thread title. i thought that u were gonna put a B18 into a C5 corvette, YUCK!
PS. i know what a b18c5 is so no one make fun of me. :grinno:

never heard of that idea, ill try it

ive been haeting parts trees over a candle for the past 2 years to make pipes and stuff, so if your idea works i will be pretty grateful

the engine is going into a civic.
I will not post pictures of the extreior of the car till its completed, but i will keep some progress going on the engine

I have seen one civic Twin Turbo before, using Supra turbos almost identical to my set up, tho i think he had a B16 instead of B18

If i cant have this all put together in time for that show then i will just keep the car engineless untill after the show.

I didnt think a 1.6litre could turn two turbos, well I suppose if they were real small. Eh, your definetly gona have some work fitting that into a civic, good luck.

supratuner
09-13-2004, 10:30 PM
yeah the turbos on a supra are T12s if im not mistaken, maybe T11s, its on cardomain, tho it only has a 4 star rating, ill go looking for it in a few minutes. the thing is a beast though

yes the fitment will be tight, but hey, nothing better then when its tight and wet :naughty:

hahah i hope my model isnt wet :screwy:

paint fumes must be getting to me.

thought id also add that the RX7 is a 1.3 liter, spining twin turbos, 240 HP hhhmmmmmmmm if only the engines didnt blow so easily

I thought the same, no fun being made here.

All that work for just 260 or so hp? You could make an all motor 1.8 run 260 no sweat. But whatever - its gonna me neat either way. I foresee some real trouble getting that thing in the engine bay, though, the pipes stick out rather far, don't they?

supratuner
09-13-2004, 11:10 PM
just a tad, but since i got that tip about heating the pipes with a light bulb, im redoing the pipes, so they will be shorter.

yes 260 isnt much, but after searching for that car on Yahoo, and google, i only came across one other TT civic, and it was one of those ugly 88 body style ones.

but still neat none the less

awsome stuff looks great will be a tight fit but im sure you can do it! :)

BTW the turbos are ct12b on the stock mk4's :)

they probably used the b16 because a b18c1 and b18c5 (b18c and b18c-r - JDM) are made to be all out all motor engines; ie. 11:1 compression ratio. the b16 has a 10:1 or 10.5:1 ratio. thats y its more common to find LS/VTEC frankenstein motors with LS block, b16 pistons and b16 heads. thats what im gonna do in real life and turbo it.

anyway, gettin back on topic, looks like its coming out good. it would be better if u connected each turbo to 2 ports but as u said ur constricted on time, so it looks like it would work. good luck with the contest. btw dont keep the chrome valve cover. lol.

T12, CT12b, not too much difference eh?
i dont know too much abotu the sizes of turbos, tho i do know how they work, just like my brothers friends supra that has a single Sp56 or some thing like that, i usually just call it T56 for short since i cant remember the 4000 letters that follow it

idk what color that valve cover will be, im thinking about the color of the car, tho im not sure. maybe chrome :evillol: sorry Kasso

today after school and thursday after school are about the only days im gonna have time to really work on models, so im hoping to get every thing close to a point to be completed today, ill have more pics of the engine later today.

Kasso

lol. at least it cant be called rice with a chrome valve cover because of the twin turbos.

the rx7 is different, the rotary engine takes very little capacity to make power. if im not mistaken...a 2 rotor enigne is the equivilant of a v6, a 3 rotor is to a v8 etc.....

Kasso
09-14-2004, 08:47 PM
i think its a 3 rotor is equivelant to a v6 or inline 6, cuz i think the rx-7's 13b had 3 chambers.

86_SR5
09-14-2004, 10:31 PM
13b= 1.3L = 2rotor . . . I think! not positive, but the 4 rotor was the v8 equivalint. again, not positive, but it doesnt even matter.

quick update, no pictures

I got the engine to fit in the compartment, with the hood closed but dont have the front bumber on yet, or painted so i got time for that, but right now i g2g out with my gf, tomorow is our 1 year anniversary, so hopefully winning some awards at that show tomorow plus going out with her will make me feel better

and my chance of winning is higher since were in the middle of ahurricane, should keep the old geesers away :evillol:

ill post pictures and more updates tomorow, maybe int he morning if i have it completed before the show, if not then ill just submit it to the show with out a bumber and label it a work in progress or some thing.

thanks for the replys

Civic race car without bumper, there's drift cars without bumpers.

supratuner
09-17-2004, 09:12 PM
too bad i hate drift cars

ill have the bumber ready, the hood is painted gunmetal while the rest of the car is a red color, i didnt have time to even attempt to try to get the hood ready, and actually the gunmetal color suits the car, kinda looks like CF, tho im not triyng to make it look like it.

Man, if your honda with the busted fender can have silver flames there's nothing wrong with a drift car :)

supratuner
09-17-2004, 09:33 PM
hahahaha thats just my daily beater till im 50 when i can afford insurance for a sports car...

paid $380 for it
spent $60 ona new battery

$295 towards getting a wheel/axle bearing fixed or some thing like that, and the cluth adjusted
now we got a problem with oil burning some hwere, not sure where, but the first day we got it, we filled up the oil, now it says it needs more, it smells like ive been driving the hell out of, even after i move it out of my drive way, tho its full of coolant, the engine isnt over heating, but today in all this rain the hood was making steam! so now we got to fix that, and the fact that ALL old hondas leak water into the trunk, but hey,
in the end, maybe a $1000, it gets about 400-470 miles per tank, and can burn out through 2nd gear, the guy that had it before me bought a Dodge Dakota and he cant get it to burn out at all, hahahha stupid dodges, jk

the flames are a joke, im not gonna spend a single dime on the exterior, except $5 for $1 paint cans from walmart to paint the hole car one shitty color...

i do love this car tho :evillol:
better than my chevy S10 that got 5mpg

Hey, as long as you do thin even coats some of their paints are nice. I use the $1 cans of paint all the time, and they're better than the $1.67 cans with the built in button. What color where you planning?

Getting back on topic, Gunmetal will probably look good on it. Another thought, go ricer, prime the front clip, glue it on. They'll laugh until the civic blows by them doing 120+

supratuner
09-17-2004, 10:08 PM
hahah that would be hilarious in real life with the civic

i got one coat of the paint on and im getting ready to do the second coat on that bumber, if it comes out close to the color of the car then im satisfied, if not and i think i can get it righ till do it, if not then just paint it flat black and stick it on

as for my accord im thinking maybe flat black or some thing like that

Not to get too off-topic here but just some things that need corrections, yes the 13b is a 1.3L 2 rotor, 20b = 2.0L 3 rotor, the 13b is equivilent in power output and turbo sizing to a 3.0L. Rotaries don't blow easily if you know how to maintain them, the problem is 99% of people only know pist-on engines and threat them as such. Also the honda guy is out of his mind, air/water IC being 4x more greater than a Air/air IC. The only advantage an air/water IC has is before the water for the system heats up, once it is at a steady temperature it can not go below ambient, which as we know is the exact same as an Air/air IC only with an added/un-needed system. The MKIV owner who was allowed to sell him those turbo's should be beaten. :disappoin I'm not even going to start on that POS 1G IC he used. Good work on the model though supratuner.

ahh, i dont think that civic will, i think most the people at this show are probably older people with their hot rods and muscle, so i dont know about that, probably dont know that a TT civic is rare :evillol:
the car its self is almost put together, and im not too satisfied with it, the front is a bit higher then the read, not sure of the exact reason, but i have to get up in 7 hours, so im not gonna fuck wiht it any more. ive only had a few hours of sleep in the past few nights any way, notice me falling asleep in Tomberlins class Andrew? (i fell asleep in Mrs Mitchells class the other day and i was snoring, damn that sucks  :banghead: )

I just got to put the covers over the headlights, glue a seat back down, and the muffler

if any thing is gonna win, gonna be that eclipse, or that R34, it has the best clear coat thats avliable, Du Pont, and 3 coats of it at that, its shiny, needs abit of a clean but ill do that in the morning.

are you gonna go andrew? if so ill see you there.

any one got a window they would be willing to donate? or at least send for the price of shipping?
