I am thinking about removing the tow hooks on my 1999 Z71 to add some "real" fog lights in the bumper openings. If I should need a tow in the future, will there still be a decent place to hook up the truck? What do you 2wd guys use?

Uhhh, my Truck didn't come with any. So, I am assuming when I need a tow, I'll just be put on a flat deck or they'll lash around the front suspension.

When I put fog lights on my truck a friend told me not to take the tow hooks off. But when I thought about it, I thought I would get a lot more use out of my lights than the tow hooks. I've had my truck 4 years and I never needed to use the hooks.

I must be doing somthing wrong i use my hooks alot. I pull people out in the wintrer and ive had to be jerked out of incredibly deep mud wholes often. What am i doing wrong? btw those hooks arent for being towed buy a tow truck, trust me! there called recovery hooks for a reason...JJ

Its a personal opinion whether or not you move them, or REmove them, but I'd be careful where you remount them. They're pretty strong where the factory puts them, and I'd be sure to reinforce the area where I remounted them if you decide to do so.

I dont know about the 4x trucks but on my 2x the front air dam below the accual bumper has two rectangular indents on both sides. One is for the hooks and the other is for fog/driving lights. You just cut the plastic out and you have a hole to mount into as if it came from the factory that way.
