Guys, for 2 years my team ran an EVO (5 n 6 respectively) in a 12 hr endurance race here in M'sia. In both races, the car developed mechanical problems. Last year it was the wheel bearing/knuckles. This year was more heartbreaking as we were placed 7th overall and 4th in our class when the rear diff was reduced to rubbles!

I have had discussions with my team and we are quite interested in running a GTR in next year's endurance. I am prepared to buy a r32 GTR and build it from scratch but my co driver wants to know whether there are race prepped GTRs around which could be bought. We don't mind if the engine/parts are not in good condition but the body/cages/chassis must be prepped and in good condition.

I wonder whether anyone here could point me to any garage or individual, particularly in Australia/New Zealand (as they are clsoer to M'sia), who might have this kind of GTRs for sale.

You would be better off getting one from Japan mate. They are much higher priced and not many for sale around here. I've heard a few going for half the money in Japan, around 8K USD for ex-track cars! All the goodies still on them.

Also in all honesty most are converted to 2wd to avoid some of the potential problems with running a 4wd car. So maybe picking up a GTS-t and doing from that way. A guy has done it here and runs 6, 12, and 24 hr enduro's and is always in the top 3. He is running a 3 litre block with a GT30 Garret turbo combination. They don't run much boost during the race and the car would be making around the 550hp mark but can sustain it for the race. Towards the end they kick it up and cream people who have shagged their cars trying to keep pace with them.

Thanks very much Razor for your insight. I have actually sent some fillers to Japan about the car. I am just trying to see whether I could find such car in Australia and NZ as I know there are many which are raced over there.

FYI, I did think of a 3 litre bottom GTR or a GTS running a RB26. But that would propel my team into the Open Group, where anything goes and where the really really big boys are! These are teams with pro drivers and big budget running GT3 Cups/Murciellago R-GT and the likes! This year, there was even a Murciellago R-GT prepparing for Le Mans running in the race! The car was so damned fast that everytime it lapped me, I did not even see it in my rear view mirror!!! :eek: But they failed to finis as they retired after 7 hours in the infamous Malaysian sauna! :p

My team is in group A, which is production car (FIA Articles 254/255/256/261/277) where mods are allowed in accordance with the regs but obviously the original engine block must remain as it is (may be bored up to 0.5mm). Body weight may be reduced but body parts cannot be changed with anything other than the original material (except for window and rear glass). The car's silhoutte can't be changed as well. The competetive cars in Group A are the Hondas/Lotus ( we were neck to neck with them until we retired!).

But of course, I aspire to drive a super duper GTR in Group O one day. I think a properly set up GTR within reasonable budget can give the GT3 Cups and others a good run for their money!!! :smokin:
