cold air intake Question¿

ok, ive got a 93 1.8 non turbo and i was planning on getting a cai. well, where the heck does the sensor go¿¿¿ im talking about the sensor that plugs into the can that goes around the filter. (not sure what its called) but anyway what does this plug into? or does it just sit there not plugged into anything? also, any places that carry these would be appreciated. but i have searched and found some sites. thx, derek

sounds like your talkin about the mass air sensor (MAS). You will probably have to make a bracket to hook it up to the tubing? maybe the intake came with one?

yes the mas sensor. ive seen cai's online and looked at them out of the box and there is no place for this to hook up. stock the sensor hooks up to a piece that is in between the piping and the filter so do you stick this piece in the same place with a cold air intake system. if you dont hook this sensor up to anything the check engine light comes up. i dont want to be out between 1 and 2 hundred bucks just to have a check engine light come up and have the mas just hang there. thx

you need the mas hooked up for the car to run right. it may work for awhile but it will cause problems. just put the mas in the same place on the new piping. jbweld it in place or something. if you're doing a true CAI(filter in the fenderwell) you'll also need to extend the wires for the mas. just cut them a few inches from the connector and splice in some wire about the same size. make sure not to mix up the wires.

jgweld it in place¿ i dont want to go through that or cut the wires etc. if its going to take that then ill go ahead and stick with just the filter. just bought one today. 50 bucks. o well million mile waranty sounds good. noone has put a cai in their car some one has i know that. what did u do with the sonsor now i just want to know. thx
