I have a 92 toyota trecel this problem just starting happening about a couple of months ago and has been getting worse over time. When I first start the car up in the monring and put in reverse or drive the car sound like its stuttering and when i push on the gas a little bit it seem like it hesistating liek its not getting enough power and I'm not sure why that is and when I click it over to drive the car will go but very slowly like something holding it back now if a press the gas with a lot more force the car will go and work fine but when I get to a stop sign and start to go again the problem comes back it usually takes me about a good 10 to 15 minutes in the morning for the problem to go away. But the strange things is lets say if the car sits for around 8-12 hours I can get in and start it up and everything works fine very strange anybody have any suggestions thank you in advance

The car is running at normal temp. We put a new fuel filter in yesterday to see if that would help, it's helped alot but it's still lacking in power. I will get the throttel body cleaned and see if that helps even more. We put in a new air filter, but have not added fuel cleaner so I'll do that as well. We've also changed out the spark plugs, plug wires, and new distributor. I bought her at an auction 3 weeks ago. I thought I got a good deal on her for 1,850 dollars and it has 134 thousand miles on it. The motor was clean as a whistle and the interior was as well. See we race Ford Mustangs in dirt track racing in mini stocks, and I was driving fords as my personal vehicle. Our racing buddy races Yota's and suggested that I get a Yota since I was tired of my Fords tearing up on me all the time. My husband knows nothing about toyota's. I was looking in search on the toyota's and found this place. Oh and I wanted to ask, do you think I should change out the transmission filter and fluid too? I appreciate your help. Thank you so much. It was also pointed out that it could be my throttle body sensor as well. All the vaccume lines seem to be okay. I'll keep ya posted on how it's doing.

ya, check the fuel preshure also, make shure it is ok, and if that cleaning the throttel don't work and the gas cleaner, then i would do the throttel position sencer. Check the tranny fluid, if it is dark red or like a brown, change the fluid and filter, if not just leave it alone.

Fuel pressure seems fine. Throttle body is cleaned. Oh and it needs new valve seals. Smokes when first cranked up, and uses two quarts of oil about over every half a tank of gas, could that have something to do with the power also? That maybe a dumb question but I'm a woman here. LOL! I know a little about cars, but I'm still learning.

well that is most likely you hole problem, it has to much oil in the cylenders so it bogs out, fix the seals and get new spark plugs and you should be good to go.

Okay I'll do that then. Gotta wait a few weeks so I can get my main bills payed and out of the way. Thank you so much you have been so helpful.
I had a "97 Ford Taurus I got a year ago and the transmission went out, so I parked her and found this Tercel at the auction for as much as it would have cost me to have the transmission fixed in the Taurus. I don't feel I done wrong in doing it.
