What is that?
It just looks like a Sports wagon with a different motor?

It's the new Saab 9-2x. Pretty much a WRX with different body panels and interior. The engine, transmission, chassis, brakes, pretty much everything mechanical is from the WRX.

1) i dont like the grill
2) i dont like that they have THE EXACT amount of HP as a WRX.
3)i Dont like the price... MSRP @ 26-28G's
4) i dont like Saab
5) i wouldn't drive it because they only come in a wagon.

well saab couldnt make a car to on there own to go head to head in the sport compact sction so they had to use a Subaru car to do it, and all they did was make minor changes to it. if they were going to use another car they should have made more changes to it. i dont hate it i just hate the fact that they couldnt do it on there own.

If you were to see the hood scoop up close, I think you would be trying to do a swap, it looks better in person.
Yeah, a lot of you bought the Subaru because it was different, and good value. However, style is subjective, and perhaps you are now jealous? (some one else is moving in on your good deal)
Think about it, this can be good for Subaru, and you, it gives you more wheel options, you can boast that your car is so good that Saab wanted a copy, (actually a GM decision though).
Seriously though....
Go see the car in person, and be smug knowing that the impreza was good enough to not be changed much mechanically.

Ah, this car is definetly NOT a car that Saab wanted to copy.. Sure, mechanically it's good, but the design of the Impreza is just horrible. Also, the crash ratings of the Impreza are far below the high Saab standards. Luckily we won't see this car in Europe..

All things considered, much better the Impreza than the Chevy TrailBlazer. ;)
And links to crash test data, please. I'm having touble finding it for recent Saabs...
I've seen plenty of anecdotal evidence (subjective though it may be) of Subaru owners walking away from some pretty horrific wrecks, including a WRX owner that got rear ended and pushed completely under a tractor trailer. He walked away with bruises and perhaps a concussion...

www.euroncap.com for example, Saab have 5 stars of 5 in front and side impact rating, both for 9-5 and 9-3. Swedish insurance company have rated the Saab 9-5 the only car that are more than 40% safer than the average car based on data from real accidents. The whip-lash protection has also shown good results according to american insurance companies.
If you compare the 9-2x with the WRX the 9-2x is the better car, but it's also more expensive. Except for exterior and interior the suspension system have also been modified. But the engine is not in the same class as Saabs, the turbo comes way too late.
There was however some rumour that Saab and Subaru should make a boxer diesel together.

actualy the interior of the 05 9-2x is almost the same as the 05 WRX, just about the only thing different is the steering wheel, and the location of the rpm gauge.

OK, I see you did not read the subtleties of my post, I will forgive you of this. As for the Impreza being a horrible design, I cannot fathom what you mean. Care to explain the "horrible" part?
The car IS in europe, (as a Subaru, see, I can misread your quote too)
and if you ever drive one, you might understand the car.

What's with all the whining over copying cars? Manufacturers have been borrowing (and stealing) concepts and cars from one another for almost as long as cars have been being built. I think GM's Saab division made a good move here: buy the rights to a proven vehicle, re-badge it, and sell it at a profit. I probably would have bought one if it had come out sooner; that way my car would look *different* than the fifteen billion other WRXs on the road. Yay for Saab!

By comparison to any other car on the road, corvettes for example, WRX's are few and far between.

I agree with you, but understand these three points as well.
1. If you were in Japan, or even England, you would be wrong.
2. The corvette goes back to circa 1953? or so, WRX is circa 2002.
3. The Subaru community is a very "digital" group, and very internet savvy. If you frame the uniqueness in this light, you will come to a different conclusion.
Just trying to expand the picture a bit.

Well, and WRXs are not as uncommon everywhere in the USA. They are downright popular in the midwest, it would seem (just from my recent visits there). Here in TX there weren't too many until this past year, when I've started seeing one in every major parking lot since the new batch of freshmen moved into Waco. The WRXs far outnumber the Vettes, for sure. Back home in Alabama, however, I'm the only one on the road.

Yeah that is true in the midwest you see a lot of them, i live in illinois, and i see atleast 1 to 3 WRX's or STi's everyday and i dont really live that close to any bigger cities.

Being That I'm Japanese, I go back to Japan more often than any one of you guys... WRX's are not that common! Subaru's in general are not that common.
Also , I drove the SAAB 9-2x this past weekend and felt that it war pretty much identical to the WRX. At least they should've moved the ignition to the center to make it more SAAB-like and to make those SAABophiles happy.

Im talking 2000+ corvettes. They are extremely common. Going to work 15 miles i see at least 3 on my way that are at least 2000 and up and thats just on my way to work, not back. Same with any newer f-body car or honda etc. There are maybe a handful of STi's in my town along with WRXs
