Check engine light

I need to reset the check engine light I know the problem (Gas cap+wife and daughter = pain in dads rear) I do not have the luck to live in a town with a autozone and am to busy putting gas in the beast to buy the 150 dollar reader to reset it each time. Is there a quick way to reset them. I can disconnect the battery they it seems to reset after a while, The idea of waiting for a few hundred cycle to clear does not make me happy either, Any words of wisdom here.. (PS can not get rid of wife or daughter) LOL
