Buying A BOV

ok, i'v decided to upgrade to an aftermarket BOV next, i did want a open BOV but i'v heard they suck for our cars. Is there any way other then a air\fuel controller to run open BOVs smoothly? I was looking at the Apexi Twin Chambers but i'm still nervous about the choking, stalling, and rich mixture every shift, on the other hand if i am left to choose a closed BOV i was thinking about the Greddy Type-S. Is this a good choice? I see them on Ebay for cheaper, they are universal if i get the adapter off 3SX right? Even tho the type-s is a closed is it noticely louder then a stock BOV?I kno i should just pick up a closed loop BOV to prevent any trouble later, but i'm just tired of those muscle cars at school winding their superchargers when they pull up and park and i just wanted to let them know everyday that i'm runnin boost too :) BTW i just got my parking pass today and i happen to be right in between two guys who own a Corvette Stingray and a Mustang fastback and i'm right smack in the middle lol

i just got a greddy type S, honestly, they are pretty loud and noticeable. I drive on campus and pedestrians notice when I shift. It sounds pretty good, definantly louder than stock, especially if you have an intake like the FIPK. I don't know if it will interfere with the 5spd trannys, but on my 6spd, I needed to relocate it (which was easy but annoying) simply because it was in the way of the shifting fork counterweight. Regardless, it is a good BOV, highly recommended for our cars, and I like it. I did notice that I didn't lose as much boost in between shifts. I'd say get it, you wont regret it.

is a aftermarket BOV worth it with stock boost levels? it'll help my turbos run smoother right? I'v decided on the type s cuz my cuzin is selling his off his supra, i can fit this with the adapter that 3SX Sells right

Yep, you can fit it quite easily providing you have the adapter from 3sx. It will improve performance on stock boost levels, I'd say it is worth it, as I had it in before my boost controller. However, I personally wouldn't have upgraded it so early, except my stock BOV was leaking pretty bad. But even so, if you are getting a good deal on it, go for it...it is a good mod and judging by your mods list, you might want it in the pretty near future anyway.

That's a hell of a place to be parking. I always worried about my car parking it next to some beaters at my school...figured I'd come to my car and see spots from their doors hitting my car. However, nothing ever happened.

yeah, I'm still paranoid like that, I hate public parking.

there not beaters, their actually really nice restored cars. but anyway, i know i have the five speed but i want to relocate it to a more visible spot anyway, what do i need to relocate it? just any random hose that fits?

I have a thread somewhere, titled "Greddy Type-S" or something like that that explains how I did it awhile back. I just took the stock bov off, and took it to Autozone, (hotshot recommended this) They should have a whole wall of random radiator hoses. Just ask to take a look at all of them, you can try and explain what you are doing, but most likely they wont understand, and just let you take a look yourself. Then just try out random radiator hose pieces until you find the right one. Also get a radiator repair kit, or just the right sized coupler if you can. If you need more specifics, I can get pics or something from mine.
