I am considering the purchase of a 95 millenia with 148k miles. The car takes off rather slowly then 2nd gear kicks in really hard and it almost feels like I was bumped in the rear end. Has anyone had this problem? If so, what was the cause of it?

my car only has about 80k miles on it and yet i am having similar problem as yours. it lurches forward when it hits 2nd gear. all this time, i had thought that it was just dirty transmission fluid. geebus, first the check engine light, now this. :uhoh:

I had the transmission replaced, it's doing the samething. It maybe the computer that switches the gears. It also happens in second gear.

The tranny is running in Limp Mode. I just fixed mine today! Well its a long story but what i finally figured out was i had bad connections under the dash/floorboard on passenger side. All the signals from the sensors and throttle position sensor run thru those connectors (3 white ones)the bad connections were sending false/improper signals to the ECM/TCM. I found this out by jiggling the connectors while looking at a mirror i taped to the steering wheel so i could see the dash from the floorboard where i was crammed. I could see the tach needle jump around and the hold light stop flashing. I spliced all the wires around the connectors since i could not isolate the bad wire/wires themselves so it was a big job(3 hrs) but all is good now. Oh, the codes i got were P1601 (ECM-TCM communication error)and P1790(throttle position sensor)Hope this helps someone

could this be similar problem to the flashing light - and always in neutral problem of the 626 (1989 model) ?

I also have a 95, mine does the same thing. I was told by my mechanic
that this is common, and not to worry about it.
